What is the single most expensive Ruger pistol box? Just curious. I would think the two RR mentioned would have to be up there pretty high. krw

probably in this order, or close...
1. Ruger .22 Lightweight box with green wreath (only the first few, then they went ot a black wreath)
2. 10" Ruger .357 flattop box
3. 10" Ruger .44 flattop box
(they didn't make a whole bunch of either of these, and add to that the boxes were big and clumsy/hard to store, they got tossed)
4. 7.5" Ruger .44 flattop box

somewhere in this list...not sure where to rank it... would be the black fitted case for the Ruger Engraved Single Six.. pretty rare box to find without a gun in it..

You missed a couple: @ 256 WM Hawkeye Single shot box and the Engraved Single Six black fitted factory case. Also the one pc fliptop box for the Standard Auto and the early target sighted auto pistols will be later in the list. Oh, almost omitted the original FITTED mahogany cases for the 300 Long Frame Super Blackhawks. There, you have it........

I think a bkh30 box and a green wreath box would each
bring 2k or more..not sure what a salt cod box would bring, maybe that much too.. A bkh40 box would fetch nearly 2k..
RSSE box ... $1000? Maybe more..

Somebody let me know what they think, I am just taking stabs at it..

Not sure what a Salt Cod box would bring? Thats because you almost never see one for sale. You very rarely see the box and gun for sale. It may not bring as much money as some of the before mention boxes but it should. Just not that many Red Eagle collectors. None the less, A VERY RARE BOX!

Let's take a cut at the RSSE box situation........Without digging for the book, think the number of original documented RSSE's is 258(@20 Spanish and 238 Jerred) Chet tells me that "about 1/2" are found/reported. That means 130 boxes, or so......We have not "found" the rest in over 54 years of advertising, ferreting and going to shows and garage sales. Therefore, there are only approximately 130 boxes or less, as some guns simply do not come with a box when found. In 52 years, I have had two extra RSSE boxes; one went to Bill Hamm and the other went to a very interesting non factory engraved RSS which I still own..........So, at this juncture, I have to think that elusive RSSE box has to be very close to the top, though not that (YET) expensive....Your turn........ 8)

Perhaps not as expensive as the RSSE, White Box, BKH30, BKH40, LW's... I think these are quite Rare also (especially the marked RSS4 - non sticker box) - your thoughts?

The bottom Colorado box you don't see many of...

Super Single Sixes.

Rare 4 5/8" box and notice the WMR marked SC6 box and the other without the WMR. Which one you think is the more common variation?

Same here with the Single Six RSSM box. And the 4 5/8" box.

4 5/8" Single Six - Single cylinder box.

In my years of collecting I have seen more lightweight boxes than the hinged T514's and only a few white boxed Super's than Hawkeye boxes. For every 10 paste over 4 5/8" single six box's I see one non paste over 4 5/8" box. Hard to decide what box would be the most considered RARE!
As far as most exspensive I seen a BKH30 box sell for 2400.00 but a week later I picked one up for 75.00. I would say a salt cod box could possibly be the one on the top of the list.

ALL the O.M. boxes are getting expensive for the general collector, so many of the boxes are in collectors hands now--I have to say on E-Bay you can get a box :) sometimes you get a good buy sometimes gotta have kicks in  then your or better said Americal is in trouble :!:
