Ordered this one from far away and got it this week.

Finally had the chance shoot it today and I am quite pleased with the accuracy and overall package.
(16" threaded heavy contour barrel, and factory 20 round mags)

I'll be sending the trigger group off to Randy at CPC for his superb trigger work, but it's not completely awful as is.

What type of ammo did you run through it? How many rounds fired? Any malfunctions?

I only fired about 30 rounds total, but no malfunctions of any kind.

Ammo used was MFS 125gr. soft-point, zinc-plated steel cased ammo from (I'm told) the Barnaul factory.

I've been a fan of the little russian round since the early 90s, and I'm happy with this late-model Ruger in that chambering... the SKS or AK variants have never filled the bill for my uses.

I really need to buy a few "bricks" of this MFS ammo while the prices are reasonable.

Funny looking 7.62X39 rounds.

Very nice Mini 30.

I feel the same way. I have one of the NRA Mini 14s and have always wanted a Mini 30 to go with it and fill the 7.62x39 niche. Seeing yours now I want one even more so. 8)

I just bought a used Mini 30 model (like the one below) with wood stock and blued barrel, and I am thinking about what kind of optic to put on it. Do you have any suggestions?

Have you used much of that MFS brand of ammo, and did you have any trouble with it? Are they reloadable? What was the cost?

The MFS is not reloadable, and while I haven't shot alot of it, my local gun shop has sold alot of it without any complaints.

Optics choice really depends on your intended use, but for me, I went with a Bushnell 1x-4x 24mm (30mm tube) with illuminated center dot.

Thanks 9x19.
That is one good looking rifle.

I did go with a Bushnell Trophy 3-9x40 they had on clearance. Now I am waiting for the scope rings from Ruger. Should be here by next week and then I want to get out and shoot my Mini Thirty.
I also need to shoot my Marlin 1894c in .357 mag. Have had it for a couple of months and no chance to fire it yet.

I keep buying firearms just in case SHTF. Have a nice collection so far.
With the idot in the White House and more in Chicago, I might need all the firepower I can handle.
