The more I've looked at my new Mini 14 Tactical's sights, the more I'm thinking I can't really see them. So, I went looking on Cabela's site to see if I can use my points to pick up a red dot for it.

This Mini-14 will be a mid-range rifle for plinking and possible home/camp defense, nothing super long range or precision for hunting (I've got other rifles for that).

I was originally thinking about another Fastfire 3, like I have on my Glock 34 (which I like a lot). But, I also thought more of a tubular type (don't offhand know the different type names, if any) would be a little better for durability. I came across the Sig Romeo 5X (Gen II), that I thought was a pretty good model and had the basic functions I need. I also like the fact that it uses AAA batteries instead of some oddball watch batteries that might be hard to find.

Anyone have any experience with this model? Reviews seem to be pretty good and I've heard a lot of good things about the Romeo lines in general.

Thanks for any input.
