Meat Eaters Unite!

I want to re-watch this video while eating a Beef Bacon sandwich.

I know a 'vegan'. I plan on sending him the link. Let's see if he thinks it as laughable as I did.

Hi,

Don't hold your breath, Frank. I've only met a handful of vegetarians who had even a modicum of a sense of humor about such stuff, and never yet a vegan!

For some reason, watching this video helped make Lady Gaga's "meat dress" make some sense... not sure what that says about my own sense of humor.

During another one of my many lives, I dated a (strict!) vegetarian for about 8 years. I loved her a lot, and her vegetarianism was an absolutely incontrovertible cognitive/behavioral conviction she held with religious fervor and simply would not contradict. She would have rather died. I think if someone had actually tricked her into eating meat, she might have killed herself. I really don't think I could have handled it if she was a true, hard-core Vegan, though. Those people eat NOTHING. And this video is funny because it *almost* captures the fervor of the hardcore.

There are people who pretend to believe and then you reach the 1 or 2% who are TRUE BELIEVERS. Those people are like my -ex, and they're 100 times more determined in their beliefs. Reinforced concrete surrounded with titanium. They're serious about it.

I actually have a really good restaurant I can recommend if you ever have to "deal" with one in the Chicagoland area and still get something good to eat.

Despite that MAJOR PROBLEM AREA, it can work out OK if you can afford to find restaurants and food outlets that cater to vegetarians as well as others, and where we lived at the time it wasn't a problem. The real problem wasn't her vegetarianism - rather, she was also an anorexic/bulimic. Size 0 and thought her ass was fat while she couldn't find jeans that would stay on her body without bungee cords.

So she couldn't shop for herself. Just going into a supermarket made her "sick." Of course, we know what the real truth is. She was "sick" before she got there. I both loved and pitied her and bought food for her at restaurants so that she would - hopefully - stay alive. She blamed "society."

I should have broken that relationship off at year 0.8. I like how this guy does the "faux Jesus" thing - because in truth that's what it is. It's a messianic savior/martyr complex that makes them feel better about themselves. It's about "purity" and Karma. I've never met a vegetarian/vegan who wasn't also a Karma Believer / New Ager / Pagan.

When the old religions fall out of favor, human beings need new ones and so they invent them, with their own Bibles and their own Commandments, their own flagellations and their own disciples.

I've seen this room. I've walked this floor.

Funny video.

I had a neighbor in his late 60s who was a strict vegetarian for years. He would comment " I don't eat anything that has a face" Well he fell and hit his head which caused serious health problems including weight loss. He was skinny to begin with . His Doctor told him to knock off that vegetarian crap and start eating meat unless he wanted to die real soon.
Well he stopped and got a hamburger on the way home.
He eventually became confined to a wheelchair then bed ridden and slipped into a non responsive state for several years due to his unhealthy condition from being a vegetarian. Luckily he finally died.

DEAR; NIXIE TUBE: Sir I wouldn't recommend a restaurant to any one in CHICAGO... YOU do know they have a small problem with Blacks shooting Blacks EVERY day there. Some Whites and other colors, But most are Black on Black. This is NOT a racial rant, I am just stating numbers daily. They race each year to be ahead of last years totals and running count. I personally am not going there EVER AGAIN. Too dangerous for this kid... Some people actually go there and never have a problem, But I believe in the law of averages...

If you're Black, it might be a good idea not to visit the City. The restaurant I would recommend is actually north of the City, about 4 miles.

I lived in Chicago and worked in the Loop downtown for 8 years without any real problems, but I wasn't ever in a high-crime area. It's the good people who live in high-crime areas of Chicago that you should think about and understand why they need to own firearms for their protection, which has (until recently, and even then in only very limited cases) been completely impossible. There are a lot of really good people living in high-crime areas in Chicago who *want* and *need* to protect themselves and they should have your sympathy and support.

Chicago is very much a city where if you cross the wrong line on a map, you're not protected - by the police, by your family, by yourself, or by anyone else. That shouldn't happen any place in America.

The last Administration in Chicago (Daley's) was so anti-gun that Daley himself threatened to shove a rifle up a reporter's ass during a news conference. That reporter was actually from a *left wing* news outlet and had the balls to play "devil's advocate" to Da Mayor by saying that, hey: Maybe we should let more people in Chicago own guns legally? Daley responded with a fit of violent intent that was difficult to watch. The reporter felt his life was threatened. He never asked that kind of question again to my knowledge.

The truth is that the people who live in high-crime neighborhoods have been crying out for years to get licensed, and be allowed to own firearms to defend themselves. You should stand with them and try to understand their situation, and help them. Try to imagine what it's like raising a family in a gangbang controlled neighborhood with no ability whatsoever to legally protect your home, yourself, and your loved ones. That's the situation for hundreds of thousands of good people in Chicago.

Chicago is truly a city where only the bad guys have guns. And they use them the way bad guys always do.

By the way, here's the story I reference above.

The most important thing to notice is how Daley says of the NRA: "They’re bigger than the oil industry, bigger than the gas industry, bigger than Google, bigger than President Obama and the rest of them."

Wow. Bigger than Google. Bigger than the Oil and Gas Industry. These are the kinds of statements you get out of Democrats on their home turf.

Read the rest. That's what you call "messaging" in Chicagoland.

The Chicago Reader is not some kind of old conservative spinster-lady knitting circle publication, either. It's the "free alternative (left wing)" weekly in Chicago.

Very well said Nixie Tube. Not all blacks are BLM fanatics. I've known and worked with many that feel just the same as me about the bad ones. I worked with an old guy in Denver (black man) that had the proverbial useless, red-headed stepchild, who also worked there (fresh out of prison). His comment to me one day was: You know there's black men, brown men red, men yellow men, and white men. And then there's n*******. That boy's a n*****. Don't count them all out.

And we're going off topic here by a lot, but I should amend what I said above: I was in a high-crime area in Chicago a couple of times, in Hyde Park near the University of Chicago, late at night, getting on the El. I knew the danger but I was oblivious to it at the time. The person who dropped me off at the El stop, however, was a doctor at a major Chicago hospital and he understood it very well: as soon as I got out of the car, he didn't wait more than 1 second to get the hell out of there. Nothing has changed.

And of course, Daley knew that he was being....Da Mayor when he said those things. Meaning: "This is totally untrue, but I'm angry. And if you contradict me, I'll rip your lungs out. Don't confuse me with the facts."

That's how he ran that City while he was in charge.
