McDonald's is now charging how much for their grub?

So, who's going to be the first morally superior Forum member who will say something like: I havn't be to a McDonald's since '42 and I've never felt better! Just like TV threads...3-2-1... LOL

I've heard that McDonald's prices are ridiculous now. The only thing I've bought at McD's in the last few years was a large coffee and I didn't look at the menu. So, last night I decided to look up what certain things cost at my local McD's now.

Big Mac: $5.79

Egg McMuffin: $5.79

Large soft drink: $3.59

Big Mac combo with medium drink and medium fries: $11.89

Simple tiny cheesburger: $3.49

Simple tiny hamburger we knew as 15¢ back in the day: $3.39

I don't look at McD's parking lot and drive thru lines, but I'll bet people are lined up to pay these prices! 2 adults and 2 kids would push $40+

I don't blame them for charging this much if people are willing to pay it. I think I'll get my large coffee somewhere else just on principal. They won't miss me :)

I gotta be REALLY hungry to consider a McDonalds. Not becasue of the costs either. Just garbage food. Now if these costs having gone up surprise you, I'm curious if you'v been out to regualr restaurants lately.

I am anti-McD's, but not because of the high prices, but because of the garbage they serve there. Poor rats.

All fast food prices are way up. This fall I found out the “$5.00 Foot Long” at Subway is now $13.00 with chips and a drink. Won’t go there without a coupon.

We have both a McD and a Burger King. I have a special fondness for the Rodeo, with cheese and fried onion. Not all BK's carry it, though. Two rodeo's and a small fry costs $8.02.

I only eat out occasionally. My choices are:

1) Texas Roadhouse

2) Cracker Barrel

3) Local Mexican joint

Of 2 and 3 their prices are up <15% except the Fajitas had gone up about +/- 30%. I havn't been to #1 since about early '22 so I don't know how much their prices have increased.

I did just read where McD's is losing customers. I didn't care to look at what their profits were in '22, if they're even available yet.

McDonalds stock continues to go up too. I go there sometimes with my daughter. It’s probably $18 or $20 for both of us.

Pizza is even more expensive. There are some local places around here. If the three of us go get pizza, with a tip it’s easily $55 to $60.

And don’t even get me started on dog food. My wife and I discussed that in great depths last night.

Fatso’s food went from 22 pounds for $75 to 18 pounds for $75. Him and Fatsolina together eat a little bit more than a bag (22lbs) a month.

I haven't been to McDonalds in a long time. The sad thing is I remember when it was actually good. Prices are going up everywhere but I can take my family somewhere nicer where the food is better for about the same money or just a little more.

There are still a few options that don't strike me as complete ripoffs. Wendy's has had a "Four for $4" package (small burger + some chicken nuggets + fries + drink) that works for me; some McDonald's have something similar that is called a "bundle", IIRC. Mostly I just save my money, in case I stumble across some primers!

Prices vary too. There are two Burger King locations near me (about 5 miles apart). A sausage egg and cheese croissant, an orange juice (bottled), and a senior small coffee is $6.++ at one location and $9.++ at the other. Guess where I go when I do go. McDonald's in one location is a crap shoot to get what you order and is much more expensive than the one again about five miles away. Service at the crap shoot is on par with their prices. And YES I do visit both outfits, BK and McD. Not often but on occasion I get the urge.

I remember when they had $1 meals in the 70’s. Burger, small fries and soda for a buck. Didn’t do the math to figure out with cost of the value of the dollar then v today but guessing they’re getting a bigger profit today.

All sodas - regardless of size - $1 at McDonalds. No idea where you get over $3.

Breakfast at McDonald’s can be economical. 2 Sausage McMuffins with egg and large Diet Coke $5.82 out the door for me.

I wont be the first to be too morally superior. I eat at McDonald's occasionally.

As far as prices go? I showed 'em. 3 of us ate at IHOP's a couple days ago. 60-bucks plus tip. Makes McDonald's seem not so expensive.

Which they are pretty good about offering. I do like Subway as does the wife. Hardees prints out coupons, but when you use it they just want the number off it, so you can reuse them many times. I don't much care for McDonalds, but do go to Hardees and Burger King from time to time. For two nowadays it gets to $20 pretty easily. Not long ago it was $10 for the same stuff. Between labor cost and food price increases, it's not hard to figure out why. Try going to a sit down restaurant and order the same meal you paid $10 for a few years ago. I wish my SS would double. :cool:

We have several Hardees here too and yes, they and Subway are good about offering coupons. That same $13.00 foot long meal at Subway is ( I think ) $7.50 with coupon. Come to think of it ….. BK has coupons we get from time to time as well.

A friend showed me a neat trick when ordering the breakfast. Instead of ordering the sausage egg McMuffin combo, order the sausage McMuffin-no egg, a hash brown, and water. Only about $3.25 depending where you live.

Last time I went to a McDonald's, about four months ago, a Quarter Pounder with Cheese combo cost me just over ten dollars. For the money I got an alleged Quarter Pounder with what looked like a single Big Mac patty in the center of the bun with about half an inch of bread all around the circumference of it, cooked to the consistency of a hockey puck; a dot each of ketchup and mustard, a couple of straggly threads of onion and a single pickle, soggy fries and a watery Coke.

That was the Mickey D's at the westernmost Lebanon exit off I-44. I won't go there again, and haven't had the desire to hit any other Mickey D's since.

For that money I'll go to Culver's, or save some money and go to Steak and Shake or Subway. A six-inch BMT or Spicy Italian sub from the latter is an adequate lunch and around here costs only $6.89 or so.

There's also a takeout Chinese place a few blocks away from my current workplace with a reasonably priced lunch menu. About seven bucks for General Tso's to go; seven and a half for a plate of Beef Fried Rice. Mostly, though, I brown bag it.
