Max 9

Someone who wants a cheap, optic-ready micro 9mm and doesn’t mind tinkering or sending it back to Ruger if something goes wrong. It’s a good value, not a great gun.

Bought one soon after they were introduced. It's been replaced

I bought one a few years ago. My only complaint is that the black oxide finish rusts easily. One poster here said he kept it from rusting by treating it with Birchwood Casey Barricade. There is a newer version with a nitride finish that I have seen for sale online at a very inexpensive price. I haven't had any functional issues with mine & I like it.

I bought one a about 3 months less than a year ago. Had no problem with the gun except operator error with hitting the target at distance much past self-defense distance BUT that is me
not the gun. Feeds ammo like a fat kid eating jellybeans!!!!

It is my pocket gun, BUG, SHTF gun --- the gun I carry when I do not think I need a gun but still do not want to leave my house without a gun -- gun!!

I decided I wanted a micro nine and as luck would have it my LGS had 4 competitive models in the display case. I tried them all out and I liked the Max 9 the best. They gave me a NIB out of the back room and I had it home in an hour. After servicing it I was at the range after lunch.

That was 4 years ago. I am quite pleased with it. At PP range it's a tack driver. At a 50' indoor range I can at least keep it within the rings. It has about 500 rounds thru it now and I can't remember having a hiccup except with bad ammo.

I just bought a Max9 model 3519 as an upgrade from my EC9s. What a difference. I’ve put about 200rds through it so far, and it has been flawless. The sights are a lot like the EC9s, which isn’t a good thing, so I put some fluorescent green paint on the front sight, and fluorescent orange on the back sight. Makes acquisition really simple.

The Max9 just feels so much better in my hands than the EC9s did. And the stock Max9 trigger is much better than the EC9s. IMHO, the Max9 adds a “big boy” feel with a small package and great price.

When I first bought mine I had an issue with the slide locking back early. I shot it a lot to start with sorting that out. I was pushing up the slide stop with my thumb. After I had owned it a week or two, I went to see a friend & a few of us took turns shooting each other's guns. He has a pistol range sat up in his front yard with 6" & 8" steel targets. After my friend's buddy left, I was shooting the Max-9 at 25 yards pinging the steel. He was sitting at the table. He told me, "I think you're going to be just fine with that one."
