I tho't that being a Marlboro Man had been universally fatal. 'Shows I've led a sheltered life.

What can I expect from the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, and Santa Claus now?

Sure makes me remember how glad I am that I quit. No cigarettes since 1984!

I just can't figure out how anyone ever gets started on the things at today's prices.

My dad always smoked Camel straights without the filter. When he died he had clear lungs. Its the filter that kills you! Another plus is that before they made cigarettes self extinguishing, he could flick his butts into his yard and they would just disappear with no ugly filter laying there.

Years ago I attended a two day seminar on marketing presented by the guy who invented the Marlboro Man.... He worked for the advertising company that worked for R J Reynolds.... and they had developed this cigarette just for women that was not selling.

I smoked them starting at age 12 after older bro insisted I learn to smoke and not just puff. I managed to quit 23 years later.

I remember, probably 15 years ago, going to Cancun Mexico... every cab driver there had a cartan of Marlboros on their dash.... and they laid the empty packs out on the dash as they smoked through out the day. I guess to show how much of a man they were.

easter sunday 1963 I swiped a menthol cool from an aunt and quit june of 1995. about half that time I smoked Marlboro's the other half were camel straights. even today if someone walks by smoking a camel I salivate.

My father died of cancer in the mouth, almost 100% sure from smoking. Anyone who thinks smoking is the thing to do should take a look at a picture of someone with cancer in the mouth. You bet it will be a real eye opener.

My grandfather had a pretty large tobacco planting in his farm, for a cash crop. He warned all of us not to smoke, not because of the tobacco but because of all the stuff they sprayed on the leaves to keep the bugs off them. He used to say that there was enough poison on one of those leaves to kill a horse.

I'll bet there will be someone tell us about their Great Aunt Sadie that lived
to be over 100, yet smoked heavily. Those things can happen. I have a son
that is not 50 yet, but has lung cancer from smoking. A next-door neighbor
lady has lung cancer from smoking. She has been under treatment for more
than five years (NASTY treatments).

I find it offensive to pay two-thirds to three-fourths of the retail cost to pay
for those that have already gotten cancer.
That ratio alone should tell you something. :roll:

My parents set a good example to not smoke. When the very first surgeon general report came out, they both quit in less than a month. They lost most of their siblings to cancer, and cancer still got my Dad, though maybe not from smoking.
