I am looking at a M77 TS in .270 with red recoil pad tomorrow. Don't know a lot about these, price is $475 which I think is fair seeing the posts here. My question is how do you tell the year/ age? Flat bolt round bolt?
Thanks
Ivan

You'll need the serial number for aging. Flat bolts have a dog leg looking bolt handle, hollow bolts have a hollow bore in the bolt knob.

Go to gunbroker.com and type in ruger flat bolt and you should see some pics of the flat bolt. The end of the bolt looks like you pinched it.

Thank you Chilidog, and thank you 308longsitance nice pic! I bought it today, in great shape just a few stock dings nothing major. Bore is excellent. I cleaned her thoroughly and it is NOT a flat bolt, trigger screw looks fine although the magazine floor plate does not sit perfectly flush to the stock, but not a big deal. I get the scope on her tomorrow.

Once this weather loosens up it's out to the range!

Thanks again all.

Please post a picture of that 270 flat bolt. I've never seen one in that caliber.

A picture is needed!

If I'm not mistaken, A long action Flat bolt M77ST 270 is unknown but is a possibility. It would be extremely rare.

M77ST.......With sights and round top receiver. 8)
