I recently had the rifle rebarreled and never had the problem before. When I load a round into the chamber firing as a single shot the bolt closes but with to much effort. When I load into the magazine and then chamber the round by running the bolt it works smoothly. I feel the extractor is causing the problem but I dont understand why. I thought I would run this by you guys before returning it to the gunsmith. Thanks Charlie

Loading single 'over' the magazine will cause you to have to 'force' the extractor over the cartridge rim. That's where the extra effort is coming from. The cartridge is being jammed into the headspace register and there may not be adequate clearance for the extractor to ride over the rim with the new barrel. It's most likely a minor fitment issue.

Thanks for the reply. Thats what it seemed like to me but I just didnt understand why. Looks like it better go back to the gunsmith.
