Not thinking much more than I like M77's I bought a new M77 in 270.
I have M77's in .223, .22lr and .243. After I walked out of the store I asked myself why did I just do that. I had just sold a fine Rem. 700 in 30-06 that shot very well not knowing why I did that. Maybe there is a Ruger gun virus going around.
Never shot a 270 and have had people say it's a fine round. I guess it just got my interest up to see what it can do. My hope is it can measure up to all the talk, and maybe be able to compare somewhat to the 30-06

No use calling my doctor , he has Ruger virus too.

The 270 is a very fine cartridge. If you're a reloader get some 130 grain bullets and work up to 60.0 grains of H-4831. It is accurate, flat shooting and hard hitting.

I really like the 270 Win. In fact my go to deer rifle is an M77 MarkII Sporter in 270. I have absolute confidence in that gun and caliber where I hunt in New Hampshire. I have a 30-06 and 2 7x57 M77s, but if I had to pick just one caliber it would be the 270.

.270 win is a fine round. My go to deer gun is a no.1A in .270. Got a little 2x7 redfield on it. Mighty fine gun for a tree stand. Short, light, easy to bring to bare. I worked up a load of 130 gr SST's over 48grs of H380. It shoots MOA at 100 yds if I can hold it steady enough. 50 yds is a long shot here in the hardwood forests of the Ozarks. I say that you made a fine choice IMHO. I don't believe it's a virus as much as an addiction.

I have the Ruger .30-06 Virus...similar to the .270 version.

Warne double levers. Very strong, clamp onto the receiver directly. Here's the other side.
