Target model I would expect less than an inch at 100 yards. I had one in .308 that depending on the load, and me, would do 1/2 inch to 1 inch groups all day.

Potential accuracy should only be limited by shooter BUT all the 'fluff' on the outside has little bearing on the quality INSIDE. Thick, heavy stock and barrel may not be any more accurate than a light sporter for the first 3-4 shots.

I had a 220 Swift that was 1/2 MOA @ 100yds. I would expect the same from a 223 with the right ammo.

Let's say you're a good shooter, knowing how to shoot great. 1st with that caliber, you need to know what barrel twist it has and use the bullets in the weight category that will shoot great. I don't know what that has, but Some or all 77s in the past had 1:12 and that limits great accuracy to 55 gr and maybe up to 62 gr. bullets as the heaviest that will get stabilized.

I bought one in 223 when these first hit the market---thinking 25-30 years ago? Took it out of the box and off to the range just as it came out of the box. I hung a Tasco 6x24 scope on it and bore sighted it on the bench/sandbags with the bolt removed---old fashioned eye ball method. First shot at 100 yards was about 2' high and 1' right. Dialed it over and down. Next shot was 3/4' high and on center line. Didn't touch a thing. The next 3 rounds created one ragged hole on top of the second shot. Haven't touched it since. One day I will find that target that I know I saved somewhere.

Funny I inherited that same rifle from my dad. I took it out this week for the first time in at least 10 years. My kids wanted to shoot it, but they enjoyed the mini 14's more.
