LWT Compact 1911........Springfield 9mm

While I am patiently waiting for Ruger to come out with a LWT Commander 9mm, I decided to purchase a Springfield Armory LWT Compact 1911 in 9mm. Seems to be a nice little piece. Has a fiber optic front sight which I like due to my bi-specled vision. Allows me to acquire the front sight better and clearer. I also changed out the grips with a set of Herrett Coco Bolo panels.

Has a 4" Commander length barrel without the bushing. Officers length grip frame. Holds 7+1 9mm rounds. I intend to get to the range soon to try this one out.

Congrats on the new addition, my Springfield 1911 9mm should get more range time than it does because it is so fun to shoot. I hope yours is as fun as mine.

I have a full sized 4" in 9mm from Kimber. WAY fun to shoot.
It also gets shot a whole lot more because of ammo costs. 8)

I shot the Range Officer Compact 9mm yesterday. After the first magazine it performed great and was accurate. I like it very much. My shooting partner thought it had a lot of muzzle blast. That's a good thing. Maybe the report will make a bad person run off without any further issues, That is if he is still able to run. 8)

Senor Heliman, that's one very nice carry piece you got there Padnuh. Light wt, good quality (almost a given for SA products), and an easily controlled caliber. That glow in the dark front sight will make it a VERY good defensive pistol. Congrats...BTW, how's the trigger? Rod

Here's a pic of my Sig RCS (Officers grip length, 4" barrel/slide & alloy frame) along with my Ruger CMD. Great pistols, great fighting pistols... They're about the perfect carry 1911's in my opinion...had Ruger come out with the alloy frame earlier, I'd have opted for it over the Sig. But they didn't...so the Sig is what's on my hip when I carry a .45. I think you'll find you have the answer to your 1911 dreams there..Rod

Rod, the trigger is just acceptable. I don't want to be too judgement until I have fired more rounds. Perhaps it will smooth out some after more use.

Helli....I've smoothed out several issue triggers by the simple expedient of pushing heavily on the hammer as it falls when dry firing...obviously DRY FIRING is the way to go on this. For both of my Ruger 1911's, both the CMD and the 5" model, this trick helped measurably with 25 or so 'dry firings'. All triggers improve with age as you undoubtedly know, but this trick seems to speed the process...HTH's Rod

I also recently bought one of these Brazilian imports to tide me over til Ruger makes one. 9mm is fun to shoot out of a 1911, and relatively inexpensive.

And for the record, this gun shoots extremely well.

Colt makes a nice looking 1911 in 9mm I had looked at one very nice but has a rear blade sight, I am waiting on Ruger. I have both of Ruger's 1911 5" and commander. Of all my handguns I shoot these 2 the best. I just love the 1911 trigger vs long pull

Nice piece Dave ... I love 9mm 1911's.

Nice clean look too ... No rails ... No FSS's ... And nothing else stupid looking.

If only it was SS.

My 226 and 225 are the most accurate 9's I've ever shot ... Just a little better than my CZ75's. But I STILL like the 75's better. They're ergonomically better and can be carried just like a 1911.

I have the SA ROs in 5 inch in .45 and 9mm.



When SA came out with the little ROs I was excited. I was hoping they would have 4.25 inch barrels with a bushing and normal guide rod and plug. A poor mans CCO. If they had done that I would have a couple of those also. Instead they did the 4 inch bull barrel with the pain in the rear takedown. I already have that in my Colt Defenders in 45 and 9mm.



Then since Colt introduced then withdrew the 9mm XSE LW Commander I had to buy one of those.



I know people were hoping for Ruger to finally bring out an SR1911 in 9mm. I would buy one, but it looks like the latest new thing is the 45ACP rail gun.
