I lost an old friend, retire co-worker and all around good guy late Friday night to a long battle with throat cancer.
After my wife and I retired in 2014 , we decided to relocate to western Montana from Arizona. We had vacationed up here every summer for 15 years and decided we wanted to get away from the rat-race.
Very long story short after doing so, my buddy, Bill, decided to jump in his new 5th wheel and visit us and see the northern Rockies .
Bill and his faithful rescue dog Henry came up every summer for a couple weeks to get away from the Arizona summer heat for 7 straight years.
Last summer, he could not make it due to health issues {complications from his type 1 diabetes } and surgery due to an infection.
During pre-op tests they found a mass in his throat...cancer. Sadly after 2 months of chemo and radiation he passed away in his sleep Friday night.
He was a Marine and also Navy veteran who flew 104's during the Vietnam war and loved this country to the fullest !
Thank you for your service ,Gods Speed and may you rest in peace old friend, it's been quite a ride ! (y)

I too will share the sentiments of the many fellow members here expressing my sorrow at the loss of your friend.
Sadly,, one of the bad things about aging is watching the ones we care about leave before us.

Sorry for your loss.
It is a hard reminder of our getting older, we lose our friends.
However, as we get older, we make new friends, but they can never replace the memories of the ones we've lost.
One day we will be the memories of those we leave behind. Make good memories while you can.
I have a lot of catching up to do, myself.
