It was announced today that A&E was cancelling Longmire, kind of a puzzle, the show got good ratings and has a strong following. Hope it is picked up by some else, the production company said they would be looking for a new home. Sort of a bummer.

They probably want to put another "reality" show on in it's place. Dumb as hell!

Reality shows are cheap to produce and seem to get a dedicated following.

"That seems like a very odd decision, but as Deadline Hollywood explains, there are some cold business calculations behind it. For one thing, the sizable audience for "Longmire" skewed older, and advertisers are evidently more desperate than ever to rope in young viewers with lots of disposable income."

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change.
I saw this post when it was first posted. I haven't yet told Miss Penny as I hate being the bearer of bad news. Pizzes her off when stuff like this happens! We enjoyed the show ourselves,,, BS & all! It was "different" than most.

BINGO. It's not about anything but the advertisers. And it will never change.

Very disappointed Longmire was cancelled.
Quickly became my favorite show.
Seems like every time I get interested in a TV show it gets cancelled.

Only three TV shows left to watch now...Under the Dome, Manhattan and Big Bang Theory.

yup, and the same thing is starting to happen to the daytime soaps, its cheaper to put wingdings on like doctor phil, it will alaska, hillbilly or more storage picker crap.

Sounds like an oxymoron to me! Not to many 'young viewers with lots of disposable income' out there, unless they're either living in a cheap trailer park, or at home with Mom and Dad, who incidentally, like to watch Longmire. I bet those geniuses didn't think about that..... My wife and I like the show, and darn sure won't be watching any of their 'reality' shows.

Most 20-somethings I know can't afford to go out and buy that brand-spankin' new $50,000 Dodge Ram, (the show's main sponsor, iirc) unless they want to default on their student loans.

Sounds like the old 'military intelligence' has overtaken Holly-weird! :? Yup, pretty desperate.

One more cop show. Don't people get tired of guy does crine, cops arrest guy, guy does time?
Oh, I forgot all the soapy drama to drag it out.

I would still take it over inane reality tv crap

If I remember right they had Longmire on Tuesday nights when some other good shows were on. Being without a DVR the first 2 seasons I would find out when Longmire was repeated the next day or something but I got tired of hunting for it. Guess I just lost track of it. I also think the show quality went downhill after the first two seasons.

My top shows are NCIS, NCIS-LA, Elementary, Person of Interest, Under Dome and Blue Bloods. I can't wait for some new episodes.
CBS still makes dramas. :D

For me, Longmire was one of those shows that would really draw you in then leave a lot to be desired.

I have noticed though how short TV series are these days, and the IPs they are based on all seem like clones of each other.

Well at least in comparison to TV shows of the 90s. I can't recall too many that have gone 9 seasons successfully.

Boge, they used the Aussie because there are no leading American Actors that can actually act anymore and Robert Taylor can act. Unfortunatly our new crop of actors if u will , are useless leftist sissy boys who can't stand to have their hair mussed or get dirt under their finger nails either. And as far as the not so drop dead gorgeous female lead , I rather think she is a down home tough girl next door type and prefer that to the makeup encrusted winches of the acting profession today. The whole show reeks of down home earthyness that is better TV fare then the rediculess made up so called reality shows that they seem to want to make anymore.
