I was in my LGS last week and was looking at a nice long frame super. Nice high polish blue with a little holster wear at the muzzle and on the ejector rod housing. It had after market stag grips that were a little fat with lots of bark. I have a question about the serial number. I have read that the highest known serial number for a long frame is 3100 or so. The serial number on this gun is 407x. My question is my research wrong or is this out of the known serial number range.

Since it doesn't have the original grips you would hopefully be able to see how a pair of standard size Super Blackhawk grips fit on it.

What measurement do you have for a standard SBH grip frame? You'll find it's the same 3 1/4".
Long frames measure 1 27/32” from center of screw to bottom of grip, 5/32” longer than the standard SBH grips which measure 1 11/16” (22/32”) at that same location.
Therefore, when 5/32” is added to the Standard SBH grip height of 3 ¼”, which means the long grip frame measurement is 3 9/32”.
You might want to let Spragues know to correct their adv on Gunsamerica.
