Howdy-
I've been away from the forum and shooting for quite a while. I have a Linebaugh 6 shot 45 Colt Bisley I had John build back in 1995 with a custom cylinder and Bisley parts. I shot it a bit, nothing crazy for a few years. I was not happy with the aluminum ejector housing so I saved up some pennies and sent it back to him in '97 to furnish and install a steel one. He felt the gun had a little end shake apparently and also installed a new cylinder nose. Locked it up bank vault tight, and I haven't shot it but a very few times after. He sent the note back with it. Apologize for the lousy pictures-they do not do the revolver justice.

Thanks for sharing the pics and story. I also had a couple that John did for me. I really enjoyed all the talks I had with him. He was a great man.

Beautiful gun. It's a shame you haven't taken John's advice and actually used it. He was always saddened by the thought of building guns that guys would just tuck away in a corner somewhere...

New cylinder nose: possibly peening with shooting?
John's advice to me, to prevent this: Put a drop of oil on the cylinder nose and the ratchet stars (at the rear) before each shooting session. It acts like a shock absorber and prevents deformation.
You guys are correct. John was a good man. I miss him too. He will not likely be replaced - unless Dustin paid attention every day and wants to pick up the legacy.

Dustin did pick up his father's skill and knowledge. He just enjoys other things currently. Hopefully at some point he come back to pistolsmithing. As far as the oil; John told me to use a grease in those locations. Something thicker than oil. Not trying to correct you. Just stating what he told me and what I do.

Dustin is building custom revolvers right now. I handled 4 or 5 on his bench last week. But he is also a cattle rancher, commercial hay grower and a great dad. His dad admitted Dustin was better at building custom revolvers than he was! Unfortunately with all life is putting in front of him right now because he is not taking any new custom revolver orders until he gets more caught up on the ones he has in house right now.

Nice! The last time I spoke with him he was catching up on his dad's orders. Glad to see he is seeing some light at the end of the tunnel and is making a few new ones. He is incredible and did the best grip fitting out anyone

I have something similar I bought from a forum member a while back. One of his early guns from the 80's, 6 shot tight chambered .45 colt built from a 41 magnum Bisley. Bowen rear sight and some other touches. Shoots amazingly well!
