I see the price of their sacrifice being sq I andered by the people v of this country so many times. May wecall truly understand the cost of our liberty and protect it as the valuable it is.

I had just turned on the TV to check the morning news and the first plane had just hit and this was being covered. I called my son and we were watching it together when the second plane hit. I said "This changes everything!"

To half of America, the 9/11 attack is just ancient history. Our young people are being taught that America is inherently racist and evil, and that those who wish to transform our nation into a sewer are the heroes. We can see the negative influences of Islam already, and most Americans seem oblivious to the kind of changes that have already mostly destroyed what was Western Europe. Its hard to be optimistic for our future as a nation.

I just pulled out of my driveway and was on my way to work when I turned on the radio to Listen to a news station. I thought, OMG we are at war!

I was on the way from my home to a large pharmaceutical company in Thousand Oaks, Ca. If you know L A freeways I was just passing under Interstate 10 on the 405 northbound when the first reports of the first aircraft hitting the tower were broadcast. Weird day as TV's and radio's throughout the facility were tuned to the news. Quite a few folks had family in NYC and DC.

My partner was a former Marine helicopter pilot a current private pilot. Also born in Iran. It hit him hard. He felt like everyone was looking at him. Yet he knew he had defended this country.

Where were you on this fateful day?
I was at work when the news came over the radio. Immediately called my kids
Yea I know I have posted this before and will continue to every year.
Never forget.

Hey Guys,
At the time 9-11 took place around 8:45AM or 9:45ET (CRS) was when I became aware of it. My wife and I were flying back to Houston from Norfolk Va.in our Beechcraft Bonanza. We had just spent 6 weeks with my Son and Daughter.
At that time, I received a radio call, we had been in the air about an hour, from Air Traffic Control to land immediately. I thought something wasn't right before I got the call. The reason was that a Mercy Flight, flying sick folks, out of NC was told if he landed at his NY destination he wouldn't be able to take off. ATC would not tell him why, so he went back to NC. It was about 10 mins. later when I got "the call"
I asked what the reason and I was told that there had been a national emergency, and we had to land at either Raleigh Int. or Chapel Hill NOW. I chose C H because it is a nice little airport. Boy did I make the right choice for once. I was given a phone number to call when I got on the ground.

At that time, I told the controller that I had four kids in the Navy, Son, Daughter, Son and Daughter-in-law, and I wanted to know what the He## was going on. Needless to say, I was SCARED I thought someone had set off a Nuke.
The controller was very nice then and told me what was going on.
Anyway we landed at Chapel Hill NC and spent 2 days there before we rented a car and drove back to Norfolk and stayed another 10 days. We could not fly, and the kids needed our help. We saw the second tower fall on the TV in the airport office.

Within 2 hours after the attack my Daughter was flying the air group personnel out to the aircraft carrier Harry S Truman, while it was on its way to New York City. The F-18s could not land without the LSOs and other support people that had to be flown out to the boat.
My Son-in-Law flew his helo that day to go to a ship off the coast of NC to support a Marine amphibious force that was being loaded on board to go to New York City.
That night my Son, who was flying the Navy radar plane E-2, was flying off the coast of New York to see if any other aircraft were coming. If so they would have been intercepted.
It was a bad day for every American. I will never forget how scared I was at the time then how mad I got.

After all these years it still does.

Jim

These are from a couple of post on my Daughter's Face Book Page.

From today
20 years ago our country was attacked. My memories from that day are still seared in my mind. I cry every time I think about 9/11 no matter what day it is. I get furious every time I think about our country being attacked. Do your part - defend our country either in or out of uniform; support survivors, families, veterans, law enforcement, and first responders; teach your children about 9/11. The history of today will never be erased. Never forget. Ever.

From 9-11-2013
12 years ago I was stationed in Norfolk, VA. I had already briefed and preflighted my helicopter for a 9:30 am takeoff for a training flight. The towers were hit, and my flight was put on hold. All commercial and general aircraft were grounded; only the military was allowed to fly, and that took special permission. The President directed the Norfolk aircraft carriers to steam north to protect the coast, but they didn't have their aircraft or air wing personnel on board. Besides the alert jets that scrambled, I was one of the first aircraft in the air. I took off at 12:15 to transport the personnel that were required to land the air wing's aircraft. The carriers hadn't made it to New York by then, but they were going as fast as they could. Shortly after the personnel were onboard, they started to land their aircraft. I spent the next three long days flying personnel and cargo to the carriers off the coast of New York City. We were barely off the coast and the sight was horrific. Plumes of ash and smoke were enormous, ominous, and saddening. It will never leave my mind. Two and a half months later, I deployed to the Persian Gulf for the second time.
Today I'm in Washington DC where 9/11 is still pretty raw. The Pentagon is whole again, but you can still see its scar because the brick color doesn't match perfectly. A gentleman that I work with in the office was in the Pentagon when the plane hit. Luckily he was on the opposite side. I pass the Pentagon on my way to and from work each day. This morning I was really hoping to see the monstrous American flag hanging down its side as a tribute and warning.
I don't care what your political views are on the War on Terror, but we can never forget being attacked on our homeland, ever. God be with our troops who have fought and still fight, their families, and our country.

My eldest enlist in the Corps in January of 2000. His younger brother in September of the same year. He always followed his older brother, still does. A year later one was at Pendleton the other at Lejeune. On the day, I knew my sons were safe. I also knew that very soon they would go into harms way. On that day I understood exactly what my dad felt when I left for SEA. What his mother felt when he left for North Africa. What every father who has every served felt every time their sons and daughters left and they knew their child might not comeback.

I recall watching a video of, I think, MCRD PI. The DI was addressing his platoon and dismissed them to call home. A very somber moment.

Was at a trade show in Orlando on that day, scheduled to fly home that evening. Got lucky and managed to team up with a group that was able to rent a van to Nashville, no cars available there but again got lucky with a group renting a car to go to Indianapolis. Had to cool my heels a couple of days in Indianapolis before a car became available to get me to Chicago and then a bus home.

Thank God this was in the era of cell phones. I was in constant contact with my family so I knew all of them were safe, but I'd only been off active duty for a few years so I knew a lot of my fellow Marines were going to be in for a rough time. But the couple I managed to contact were chomping at the bit to strike back. Was never more proud and scared at the same time, not even in the middle of a fire fight.
