story has it, he borrowed a helicootor, set it down in johnny cash's backyard, walked up to the porch and handed ol' John R a cassette tape., went back and flew away. It was sunday mornin, comin down.
Another story has it, roger miller, and ray stevens, each recorded it before johnny got around to it.

I realize that this movie that he was in got terrible reviews, but I still liked it: "Heaven's Gate".

I had to pull over I was just laughing so hard, I have been having pack rat trouble at our cabin. We have an old outhouse from back in the day and I opened the door and a pack rat was sitting on the toilet lid and I shot him with my flat gate this weekend. I quoted Will Money except I used pack rat instead of man in the quote when I walked back to my friend.
RIP Kris, you will be missed!
 
If I remember correctly, Kristofferson wrote just about every song that Sammi Smith sang. She was one of my absolute favorites around 1971, and as for the lyrics and songs Kristofferson was top shelf. I never could come around to liking his voice ... but he was a heck of a composer!

Paul Harvey did a commentary on the rest of the story about Kristofferson it was most impressive all his accomplishments.
