Just saw that Kris Kristofferson is gone. He was a great song writer and singer. He wrote Sunday Morning Coming Down which is very introspective. Willie Nelson is the last of The Highwaymen now.

He was an incredible lyricist. He wrote what I consider one of the two most beautiful lines ever written in a song:

I had to pull over I was just laughing so hard, I have been having pack rat trouble at our cabin. We have an old outhouse from back in the day and I opened the door and a pack rat was sitting on the toilet lid and I shot him with my flat gate this weekend. I quoted Will Money except I used pack rat instead of man in the quote when I walked back to my friend.

If I remember correctly, Kristofferson wrote just about every song that Sammi Smith sang. She was one of my absolute favorites around 1971, and as for the lyrics and songs Kristofferson was top shelf. I never could come around to liking his voice ... but he was a heck of a composer!
