I had my Walther PPK (stainless Interarms 1988 vintage .380) engraved by Michael Gouse years ago with 75% coverage American Scroll. I really like my little Walther. One of the guys at work wanted to sell his stainless Walther PPK/S .380 and the price was too good to pass up. I prefer the shorter and 10% lighter grip of the PPK over the PPK/S (which is a PP frame mated to a PPK slide/barrel), but I must admit that the PP and PPK/S frame fits my big hands rather well.
I decided to send the PPK/S off to Gouse along with another pistol (saves on shipping by sending two at a time!) and to have the PPK/S relief engraved with German Acorns & Oak Leaves. Gouse engraved both guns in exactly 7 weeks and that includes time in shipping transit.
There is just something about having a Walther engraved in the same style that came from the factory in the 1930's.
The deep relief engraving on the front and back straps gives your hand a good purchase, just like checkering would do.
