I have a new four inch Redhawk. I know the ejector rod is not locked when the cylinder is locked in the frame and it does normally have some wiggle to it but the one on this revolver rattles around inside the shroud and make a sound like a tiny bell. It doesn't effect the operation of this gun but it is mildly irritating...Has anyone experienced this? The only other Ruger DA revolver I have is a Security Six I bought in 1977. The ejector rod design in it is very different than the Redhawk so rattling isn't something I have experienced before...Thanks

The cranes on the Redhawks have a front latch to secure the crane and cylinder closed. The ejector rod is only for ejecting empties. The ejector rod can sometimes be a little loose and rattle around a little, same with the transfer bar. Not to worry. As long as it ejects ok there is no problem. Perhaps a little felt of rubber inside the cover could stop the rattle. :D

Look at mine after reading the post it does not rattle I never noticed it rattle but looked to confirm.
Not sure what is up but does not seem right. Mine is a early production model. ps

The ejector rod does not rattle in the 4 RedHawks that I have, but the transfer bar sure does. As a test, try putting a piece of tissue paper (Kleenex) between the ejector rod and the shroud, and close the cylinder. Shake the gun a bit, if you still hear a rattle, it's the transfer bar.

Thanks for the replies. It's definitely the ejector rod. I know about the transfer bar rattling and can hear that also but its less noticeable. I tried putting some Frog Lube at the base of the rod and it reduced the noise. It's still there but not a ringing sound...I sent an inquiry to Ruger CS and we'll see what they say.

Checked my Super Redhawk, Redhawk, GP and both of my SP revolvers and none of them rattle, and none of the transfer bars do either.
