Neither, it is a double action early edition of the Ruger Redhawk, guess it was a 357 mag to start with and was totally "customized"????? for the lack of enough words in English......wow, rode hard and put away wet................USED to be quite "collectible" in the 'stock' version............. :roll: :wink:

“Game” as in hunting, or “game” as in a specific shooting discipline/sport?

Typical Armslist ad- no explanation of what’s been done to it re:customization, nor “why” it needed a new hammer/trigger (botched trigger job?), wants to trade for unspecified items, couldn’t be troubled to wipe it down for a photo, etc.

I don’t think that I have anything to trade. I would be willing to pay his $1 asking price, though... just out of curiousity to see exactly what it is! :P

Shooting sport/game. That is, not built for any practical purpose such as hunting or defense, but to provide an edge in scoring points in a game.

As noted,,, that's an earlier 6 shot Redhawk. It was (by appearances) set up for PPC competition. Sadly, it WAS worth more in it's original as shipped from the factory configuration.

I saw something similar Saturday. We had a new shooter come to my range for our monthly USPSA match. I was shooting revolver,,, and he shot in Production. He USED to shoot IPSC decades ago, and wants to get back into it. We were discussing things,,, and he asked me to look at his revolver to see if it was "legal" in the revolver division. He had a nickle plated Colt Python with a PPC barrel set-up. All I could say was; "Wow,,, it's been a LONG time since I saw a Python set up like this."

I agree with Contender, I'll bet it was modified to shoot in PPC competitions. For that type of competition back then (late 80's - mid 90's) you typically saw the guns modified with heavy barrels with the full rib that has 3 or 4 positions for the front or rear sight for the different distances (7, 15, 25, 50 yds).

It's a PPC gun and it's a Redhawk, not a Triple-Lock Target, not worth crying about.

you can use it, all the action in the world you want to,,but still should at least take care of it, that condition is beyond "abuse" , more like neglect...as I said in the first place "rode hard and put away wet"................ :wink:
we've built many PPC guns back in the old days,switched barrels around on Colts, S&W and Rugers, know guys that shoot them ALL the time, bought more Douglas air gaged barrels than I can remember as well as ribs of every maker that was, most are retired now, and still I've NEVER seen one as bad as this one.
Bet he takes care of ALL his "tools" the same way.......... :? 8)
