Exactly! or gun digest, couldnt remember which, maybe both. It was John D....moving a serious collection. He sold me Hank's from that ad.

Was there any indication what year the add was printed a number of years ago i was discussing very low serial numbered guns i was trying to buy from a man in Arizona that he had paid 16 K for one i wasnt sure he wasnt pulling my leg WOW

yes, John De., was indeed a very strange man, last time I ever dealt with him and was just before that Shotgun news ad pictured above, he gave us a hard time about a red cylinder on a 2 digit .357 flatop.......wow:cool::rolleyes::(

The ad says that serial #10 357 BH won an award at the 1993 NRA convention, and the Hank Jr letter is from November 1993, so sometime after that.

Ok, I know that I'm a dummy when it comes to collecting...but it seems to me that after hanging around here for some 20 years or so, that I would have known that Ruger made a nickle plated .357 Blackhawk...But no, until reading this thread, I did not...It does make me wonder though; Was #27140 really nickle, or was it actually chromed as were the Single Sixes?....Anyone know?
