Interesting box ?

Here is a RST4 box that was used from about 1973 to 1980. On the back of the box the labels indicate that the gun was in for a test fire. The gun tested was a Super Bearcat. I would guess that the SBC-4 that was manufactured in 1971 was sent back to the factory for some kind of issue in 1978.

when we shipped guns to the factory back in the mid 70's, the service department sent them back as shown, wished I had kept or taken pictures of all that sort of stuff back then, but hey who cared about boxes then it was all shipping /packing material......... :roll:
they even shipped some stuff back in boxes that looked like the blue boxes that S&W used , but the color was brown, and had metal corner pieces..............
Must remember that when the new models came out they basically had and used ONLY the two sizes of the one piece red/white box,one the RST and the other the BN36, just put on and used different labels (stickers)

or even different 'tape", logo or the "double R"......

still neat stuff..........
