I hate cancer!

Our lives all over this forum & other places are affected by cancer.
We have seen many members here share different stories of people they know & love who have suffered this disease. We have had pets die from cancers.
Just recently, Cholo shared a positive story of Katybug beating this disease, (Thank God!) But all too often, we have seen too many loses to this dreaded disease.
Miss Penny suffered a "mild" case of it several years ago, and due to the power of prayer & God's will, she has been cancer free for over 8 years.
Miss Penny & I watched a small but wonderful charity, (SOAR; Supporting Others in Autism Recovery) go from helping folks to losing a fine young lady at the tender age of 35 to cancer. It was a huge blow to SOAR, and resulted in the foundation closing. We still hold our Autism Charity matches & now support a different autism charity,, in memory of this wonderful young lady.

Many years ago, Miss Penny & I met an older lady who was new to our area. Her husband was long passed, and her son was building his life & trying to start his own family. This lady was a "gun girl" as well as a sweetheart. She had moved here from New Hampshire, and found our mountain life to her liking. Miss Penny & Cindy became good friends, and Cindy quickly volunteered to help with our FoNRA events, and our WOT clinics. A strong & independent lady, who took care of things herself easily. We were lucky when she took over the Treasurer position for our FoNRA committee. Took a load off Miss Penny & she was good at it.
To say we became close friends is an understatement.
Well, just a few minutes ago, we got word, Cindy Clark, passed away this morning from her 3 year battle with cancer. She was back in NH, where her son had taken her home about 2 months ago. Luckily, she was able to see, hold & enjoy, (all too briefly) her only grandchild before going into a care facility. Her son & his wife had experienced trouble having a child, but finally succeeded.
God blessed her with a final gift,,, but she left us too soon.

I hate cancer.

But, now, I ask for prayers for Cindy Clark's family.

We had no one in our family who died from cancer going back to 1825. On FEbruary 13, 2002 my brother Eddie died of leukemia, almost a year to the day after our Daddy died of old age at 90.
I HATE the very sight of that word ' leukemia' and still weep if I think too long about how it all but ate Eddie alive until he was almost a mere shadow of his former self, and the lord finally called him home.
Several times my wife has cought me swearing under my breath when i'm reading the paper and she finally figured out it was when I saw the word 'leukemia' in the newspaper. I did not notice until she pointed it out.
And so it goes...

Many thanks all. Cindy's son called us earlier, & we are helping him with all the legal stuff here in NC. (Miss Penny works for an attorney, and is also a licensed real estate broker. Cindy's house & estate here has to be handled legally.)
We do whatever we can.

Powder smoke has it right. I'd bet not too many if anybody in the USA has not been affected by this curse of a disease.

We were the ones to share the news among the locals who knew Cindy. We have recieved several calls & such today.
All we ask is continued prayers for the family. BTW; Cindy's mom (age 92) was holding her hand when she passed.

And today, like so many days, I say my prayers for my Ruger family,,, but today, I have to add a bit more to those who are still fighting this.

Ty I am sorry to hear of your loss. My Mother died from cancer in 1994...her last 2 weeks were in abject agony.
I am afraid that I would be in prison today but for my Dad's restraining me from her "doctor"....'nuff said there..

Cancer is a terrible way to lose anyone. The first I experienced was the loss of a cousin to leukemia long ago when there were NO drugs to fight it, Then I lost a Sister-in-Law to cancer of the uterus that spread to the rest of her body despite radiation and all the other treatments and finally lost a long time Soccer Ref Friend to Cancer of the liver which only has about a 5% survival rate.

Condolences to the family of Cindy. Having been in the medical field for over 45 years now I have seen firsthand the toll of devestation this disease can bring to a family. It does not respect age nor standing.

I just came back from a flying trip to western Ky. to visit a cousin, who is riddled with cancer. He was a hunting buddy, and we enjoyed deer and squirrel hunting his neck of the woods. His spirits are up, and it was a good visit, though short. With any luck, it won't be our last. Just like his dad, he was dangling another old rifle in front of me like a carrot, so we could argue a little bit! :lol: The preacher from hospice care was there when we arrived, so I hope we have time to conclude the 'horse trading'......
