Using Ruger sugested retail. A BN-455L sells for $599 and a BN-455XL for $669
If a person sells the 45 ACP cylinder for a 455XL and then wants to sell the gun, should he discount it by the $70 difference? The convertible can always be sent to Ruger for another ACP cyl. so does that make it any more desirable or less because of the missing cyl???

To those of us who want the gun "as shipped," yes, we will pay less for one that is missing a cylinder. Especially knowing the cylinder will cost us more than the $70 you quoted. If you send the gun to Ruger for them to add a replacement cylinder, it'll cost you a lot more too. It's best to keep the package together.

Ty, the $70 was of course just the list difference. I figure about $250 or better to have Ruger fit a new ACP cyl. With shipping both ways. But what I wonder is what the gun would be worth to a shooter (Non collector) that doesn't care about an extra cyl. I am not sure what I am asking here. Not a definite price as there are to many variables, but a percentage difference I guess. Here try this. What would the used gun price difference between a convertible and a just 45 Colt of equal condition?

guessing here but I would say 75 to 100 dollars................ as long as you keep the PRIMARY cylinder with the gun...............

Most 45 acp cylinders I see go for around $100 or higher. Sometimes one will slip through for less but $100 I would say is a fair price. Deduct $100 off of what you would be willing to sell a non-convertible for. You'll take a fairly big hit if you buy new as you will likely only be able to get used price afterwards.

Depends if you are buying or selling. If buying I would like to get a hundred bucks off. If I was to sell my NM, after selling the ACP cyl on the forum a few years ago, I would look at things differently.

Paid $427 out the door for a new BN-44XL about 4 years. CAS reamed the cylinders and then I sold the ACP cylinder here on the forum for more than $100. If I was to sell the gun now would ask at least $350 with the LC cylinder only and there is no way I would knock it down to $250 since it only has one cylinder.

Don't think you will find a new convertible for $427 and used price on a 45 colt blackhawk in like new shape is probably closer to $450. So selling your now 45 colt only blackhawk for $350 would be a nice deal.
