I have a NM Blackhawk, 41 mag. Do I need to check anything before loading and shooting cast bullets. I've loaded jacketed bullets for years, but not cast. I want to shoot 170 & 215 SWC's. Anything to watch for, check, don't do? Any and all HELP will be APPRECIATED! Thanks! BHK ( I use a Dillon SDB, and have good load recipies for cast bullets.)

Generally, the 41 doesn't have issues. Of course,,, the biggest issue some folks find is the wrong combination of lead types vs the velocity. (Too soft of lead using a fast hot burning powder, leaving lead deposits.) As you load your ammo, test some to see if any leading occurs. Work with those issues & once you find a load/bullet combo that provides the accuracy & performance you desire, w/o any leading, you'll be in the "sweet spot!"

I would suggest you measure the cylinder throat diameters and the groove diameter of your gun (called slugging). If you size/purchase bullets the same size as the cylinder throats you are much less likely to have barrel leading. Measuring the cylinder throats and groove diameter also insures you have throats larger than the grooves...
