I have some Hornady .45cal 200 gr. swc bullets. Hornady item #12108. I want to load them for my Ruger Blackhawk .45Colt. I can't find any reloading data for that bullet. I've looked in the Hornady, Speer, Lyman, and Hodgdon reloading manuals and can't find any data. Can anybody refer me to loading data for that bullet?

I can't find any data in the books for that bullet but I finally found some data online for 200gr swc in .45Colt. I would still appreciate any data you guys can give me.

The data for the starting load of any .45 200gr SWC is a good starting point. I no longer shoot 45colt, but when I did, I never shot the 200gr bullets because they shot way too low in my guns.

I found some info on a 200gr cast lrnfp 452" if this helps. with a col of 1.600".
800x 7.2gr to 9.3
sr4756 7.9 to 10.0
universal 6.4 to 8.8
231 5.9 to 8.0
hp-38 5.9 to 8.0
sr7625 7.0 to 9.1
pb 6.4 to 8.2
trail boss 5.5 to 6.5
titegroup 6.5 to 7.7
700x 5.0 to 6.2
clays 4.6 to 5.9

This comes from Hodgdon's 2015 annual manual.
I hope it helps you.

not Hornady but Speer SWC

Thanks guys, that helps a lot. The more info the better. Around here, like most places I think, components are hard to find sometimes so you buy what's available (either bullets or powder) and then try to find load data to match. It's a challenge sometimes.

The Hornady 9th Edition does have data listed for that bullet/cartridge.
What powder are you intending on using?

There is lot's of data on the Hodgdon website for lead bullets 200gr and over. If you are loading for a Blackhawk I don't think you have much to worry about. A round nose lead bullet isn't much different than a SWC lead bullet at 45colt pressures. Now if you were looking at 'Ruger only' loads or loading for a different gun more care would be necessary.

I must have been tired last night. When I went back to look at the Hornady book I found the data that I couldn't find last night. The powders I have available are Bullseye, 700X, 800X, Unique and IMR 4227. I don't have the data with me now but I might have a couple of other powders that would work.

You guys have all given me some good options.

Yeah, was scratching my head, my Hornady manual 4th ed., has it. Pic makes me think it's a swaged bullet. Start light, stay light.

My Hornady 3rd Edition has a .452 dia 200 grain semi wadcutter listed;
Hi-skor700x - 5.0 gr to 7.1 gr (max)
Bullseye - 4.6 to 7.5 (max)
Unique - 8.8 to 10.4 (max)
also has listings for : Red Dot, win 231, win 630, and 2400
my Hornady 9th edition shows listings on page 859 for that bullet.
hope this helps

I just got done loading up a bunch of those Hornady 200 grn. SWC with 7grns. of Bullseye. Got the data from Hornadys' 8th Edition. I haven't shot any yet, but I've been told that it is a real good combination.
