Hope others benefit from my mistake last night

Word of caution folks. Last night I scared myself sillier. I was VERY tired and in changing the batteries in my bedside flashlight (just kept putting it off) , I accidentally put them in backwards. Pressed the switch and sucked most of the light out of the room. Thought for a moment I was having medical problems. Realized what I had done, but felt the need to share a situation that could have ended in some embarrassing calls to family. Holiday greetings to all. Don.

Be carefull loading your guns too. We would hate to hear of a tragedy if you put the cartridge in backward and shot yourself.

I'll have to tell the wife what will happen if she "steals " another one of my flashlights because I've put the batteries in backwards.
I have one gig and 5 small tac lights and if she sees them she snatches them up.
I've bought her her own lights but she'll take one of mine rather than put batteries in hers.

Thanks! I have been putting the battery in my rail mount 1911 light in backwards for short term storage, now I'll stop turning it on to confirm it really IS in backwards!
 
Mike, putting them in backwards ,if this phenomenon does indeed exist, could give you a distinct advantage it broad day light as it would in effect cause a black hole where your standing, thus giving your opponent nothing for them to see to shoot at LOL.

Good one...

That reminds me of an email I got very long ago arguing that florescent lights were actually "dark suckers" that actually absorb darkness instead of producing light. It was a long, scientific dissertation, and quite humorous.

Yep . . . all "artificial lights" are actually darkness absorbers.

Ya ever cut an old flashlight battery open? All that black stuff in there is the highly-compressed darkness the unit has absorbed.

And you notice that florescent tube get black on the ends because they're getting full of darkness...

The truth is known only to a few about so called 'light sources'. None of them actually produce light. What they actually do is suck dark. When a light bulb is operated long enough to get full they can no longer suck dark and have to be changed. You can prove the facts by holding your hand on front of a flashlight. With the dark sucker running you'll notice that all the dark is behind your hand not on the side where the light sucker is. The dark can't be sucked through your hand. Dark can be sucked through transparent materials, that's why windows work. Dark suckers powered by AC power will last a lot longer than battery powered ones. In the case of battery powered suckers once the batteries are full of dark the bulb cannot suck more dark until new, empty batteries are installed. With commercial AC power the electrical lines drain off the dark accumulated in the bulbs.

Next week we will take up the issue of contrapolar energy and why an air conditioner's polarity is opposite that of a furnace.
