I was checking the price online of CLR, calcium, lime, and rust remover.

One gallon of the stuff is listed at $22.97. But they list a case (four gallons) of it for $116.49. So I guess you're paying $22.97 for the cardboard box if you buy a case?

What am I missing here?

Online price here is under $98.00 tax included. Six in stock. Free pickup at the store.

Maybe it's a CA thing?

JUST KIDDING! :lol:

Would you mind picking me up a case and bringing it out here?

I actually emailed Home Depot's customer service and asked them about it.

You know what I do not like about Home Depot?

Where about you at? My mother in law is in San Jose and a nephew in Stockton. Maybe I could room with you a couple of days so my in-laws visit can be limited to lunch and a movie! :wink:

Things CAN be strange;\We were buying the 2 1/2 gallon water jugs to put in the refrigerator; The cost was $2.29; THEN I discovered the same thing in a Gallon jug was ONLY $0.86; HMMMM that works out to be $2.15 for 2 1/2 gallons so for $2.58 I get Three gallons. Yeah, I know not much savings UNLESS you are on SS and a Small pension !!

I see the same thing with ammo ...... $15.00 for one 50 round box or $79.99 for a "value pack" of 250 rounds. :?: :?: Some value. :?

But, with the value pack you only have to carry one box out of the store. :mrgreen:

It is not uncommon. The large size is not always cheaper than the small size.

Ya sure many have a problem with math, not me tho. ps

Typical marketing. Look at prices of stuff in a supermarket -- often you can buy two medium-sized packages of an item for less than you can buy one giant-economy-size, and get more product to boot.

I guess they figure you can pick one up at the store for 22.97 or have it shipped free but if they have to ship a case to you (they don't have cases in the store?) you will pay more for the product even though they give you free shipping. It's a weight thing.

Two items:

First is/was at Target. Dill Pickle spears. Small jar, $2.09. Two shelves
away, LARGE jar, same brand, same pickles, $1.68.

Another one involved two merchants:
Amazon has the trash bags I need for here. $17.00 for 60 of them.
Walmart, same manufacturer, same number, same size $12.69

You tell me. :roll:

:D

I've learned to SHOP the various grocery stores for the various items I buy all the time; One instance Doggy snaks:
Walmart: $2.69 Publix Same item: $2.45;
Bottled water Gallon: Walmart: $0.94 Publix: $0.86
And it goes on and on; Granted some items are cheaper at Walmart: Butter, Milk and 1/2&1/2 ;
Cat food and dog food are about the same price.
It does pay to shop.

These little inline filters for swamp cooler water lines run anywhere from $20 to $28 and all different prices in between depending on where you buy them. Same product, same manufacturer.

I dunno... I went to The Home Depot online and selected one for 22.97 ... then added 3 more for a total of 91.88. (Before taxes, shipping, etc.)

Yes, I could do the same thing, so why is a 4 gallon case listed at $116.49? Didn't you see the case?

Cary - I didn't seen an option for a case.

ETA - Yes yes... NOW I see it. I went to the Q&A, and sure enough, a fella named David asked the same question back in March! I'm gonna look into the two SKU numbers and see what our local store has.

That's VERY peculiar. I see 'deals' like that at the grocery store from time to time. I keep a scratch pad with me to figure out pricing on things, so I see this phenomenon fairly frequently. Just not as over the top as this CLR caper! ;)

Regards, Pete

So yeah... Our store has 13 "Gallon" jugs in store, but no case... SKU is the same.

Very strange! Must be the fact that it's a special order. (Handling/Shipping)
