Ar pistols are bellyguns, hipshooting room-hall-and-alley clearing multishot repeaters. Some need it, others just have too much money and need a new toy to brag on.

Years ago, I saw one of those Lone Eagles for sale, chambered in (drum roll, please) .30-06. I mentioned it to a friend - just joking around - and he actually bought the thing! Not sure if he ever fired it, but he also had a S&W .500 revolver, so for all I know he put a lot of rounds through it. Talk about a "hand cannon"...

I owned the successor of that, the Competitor Pistol. It was an interesting experiment for a while, but I moved on.

the gun was a cut-down Winchester Model 1892 carbine which used 44-40 caliber cartridges; but, they had him carry .45-70 cartridges on his belt, for extra emphases .....I love the "44-40" cartridges on his beltgeat show

Never understood the need for a mare's leg...looks kinda cool I guess.
I notice it has a vertical pic rail on end of receiver. Almost looks like a “finish it yourself” gun where you can buy the buttstock furniture offered be several manufacturers. Otherwise the gun is a typical bolt action chassis gun.

Just to chuckle at myself and remind y'all: a few months back I got hooked on wanting to buy a Yeti mug offered by the online Sig store with the Sig logo on it... dern thing was over priced in my opinion at $34 but I really did want it... and put it in the shopping cart and started to check out and realized I was going to have to pay even more for it with the shipping... unless I spent more than $100. I went all through the store and and there was nothing I really wanted or needed... finally checked the discount / clearance section....
$1,033 later...

but it also came with a two stage trigger group I put in the PSA lower.

Nice rifle. Funny thing about Yeti, they are anti gun. Kinda hypocritical that a gun manufacturers name is on the mug and that they make lots of stuff gun people use, but that’s a liberal for ya.
Neat thing about Yeti mugs, the entire cap can be taken apart to clean it if you put sugary drinks in it. And the magnetic slider is sold separately if you lose it, and, you can open or close the slider with your chin for easy operation with one hand.
That is one of the reasons I will never own a Yeti anything...
I have a big mug that takes the wonderful magnetic cap from a yeti mug (longsince given away) i bought before they proved how whacko left they are, and a massive yeti cooler left on the roadside at a rollover, i dumped the beer and ice and took it home. The cooler; i was still in uniform, that morning...
I had a XP-100 once upon a time., actually wish I still had it. Would have loved to seen one of those nylon behemoth produced in 7.62x51

I think you are highly mistaken. I have a few of the 5 n 1's, 45 Colts and 44-40's. There is no mistaken the size difference between them....even for rookies!
to branch a bit... we always hear and think in Westerns the 45s and I bought my father a Single action Colt that shot 45 longs for his birthday a good while back, he's passed on now.

Clear this up for me... seems like I read somewhere that this is how the west was really won... repeating guns both long and short that shot the same ammo.

Having 2 guns that use the same ammo makes sense. However some was loaded for rifle use only and was considerably more powerful.
In Alaska and Canada before Canada had strict laws against handguns the combination was a center fire rifle and .22 handgun in many cases. The original Winchester Trapper was usually a Model 1892 with a 14" barrel in 44-40 caliber.
In a book about the .22 rimfire I have an article written by Russell Annabel about .22 pistols in the North country. He tells about a trapper killing a bear with a .22 revolver and he claimed that he killed several wolves with one magazine of ammo from a Colt Woodsman Sport. In both cases the rifle was out of reach so the pistol had to do the job.
I dint say the ones in the belt (repeatedly reported over the years as 45-70) were the 5-in-1s that they fed the carabinette with. I was referring to the statement thst they were 44-40s. Of the 3 mod'd for the show, at least one was in 38-40. The first was made for him by "von dutch", the studio had the other two built.
Adit; the blanks have been called 5-in-1s since the '30s.
