Holster Repair Help

I use Renaissance Wax on my leather holsters and guns. Leaves a nice slick finish on the lining. Not cheap but a little goes a long ways.

I like saddle soap. I've used neatsfoot and mink oil too. I also like balsam conditioner but take note that will darken the leather. I've used Smith's leather balm also. Not sure if I like that or not yet.
I usually don't do much, if anything,to the inside. I figure the gun will do that naturally.

I never use kiwi as it builds up and eventually cracks.
The car leather upholstery recommend would be great and my option also

dad grew up on a dairy before joining the navy ("i have had enough of mud!") and while he had some b.b. around as long as I can recall, he never used it on leather

Anything used on leather, even varnish, will darken leather to varying degrees. "ymmv"

For sure, you want something that won’t mess up the leather but will really soften it up. A good leather conditioner or even a high-quality mink oil usually does the trick. Just don’t overdo it, apply a little at a time and work it in.

I have used Ballistol on old leather. Not a one application fix but works when applied over time. Does not seem to over saturate and weaken the leather.

This link that I shared is by far the best deal that I have found. I ordered this myself. To be delivered this Friday. Three bucks more for a 3L bottle than the 1L bottles I have been buying.

This stuff came recommended by my local leather guy. He was not wrong!

What have yall found to be the best conditioner to take a dry, stiff unlined holster and make it butter soft on the inside ?

I've never had a problem with Hunter products, and I've been using them for over six decades. I do not like their unlined holsters, though. I like their simple 1" slings because mine never had a turquoise monster grizzly and my gigantic colored initials in the broadest part of the cobra-shaped body. It's also the sling style that JOC used a lot. PS: My Mink Oiled boots came apart, too.

I couldn't remember my favorite Hunter sling, but it is their 1" Whelen sling. I don't think they sell it now. I also have Brownell's Latigo slings, but I prefer the Hunter Whelen sling. Thank you.

Leather is not a perfect substance, and is prone to eventual failure from a variety of conditions, from selection, manufacture, unseen stresses, wear, and maintnance, including conditions outside of your control before your acquisition. Stackup of tolerances, is the industry term, where they dont want to blame the operator it failed on.

Funny you mention that, I blew up the picture looking at the boots. Back then boots were just tall shoes.

Kind of look like my Red Wing Iron Rangers.

Red Wing Blacksmiths are closer without the toe cap.
