High Gloss Vaquero - Give me a break!

After looking through the factory web site, I noticed that one category of Vaquero is the SASS style. This model appears to be the same as the other stainless Vaqueros, except that it has been highly polished. The listed price is interesting. A stainless Vaquero lists for $710.00. A high-polished Vaquero lists for $1595.00. So they are saying it costs $900.00 to polish up a standard Vaquero? More than the price of the original gun? That would be approximately the same as a USFA SAA. What am I missing?

Yep, $1595 for the pair with consecutive numbers.

And I don't believe that the finish on them is any different from the standard Vaqueros. Every Vaquero and New Vaquero that I've ever seen has been high gloss polished stainless. Other than the Montado style hammer, SASS grip medallions, and consecutive serial numbers, these guns should be identical to the standard 4 5/8" New Vaqueros.

+1 - every SASS I've seen is the same hi gloss finish as the regular Vaqueros and New Vaqueros.

Vaqueros did also come in the non high gloss stainless finish. I purchased one myself but have to admit that I did wind up polishing it up to high gloss myself.

Cary, that must've been one of an extreme few! Special very early batch? (I've had two very early serial #s both hi-gloss). I've never seen one in my travels. Any pics of it before your polishing - just curious!

Sorry, no pictures. I think it was around 1998. I had a 5 1/2" .44 mag in high gloss. I wanted a 4 5/8" .357 so the shop ordered it for me. When it came in I went to look at it and it was not polished stainless as I thought it would be.

I thought it over for a little while and since the gun was already there, I took it. As I said, I later polished it up myself. 58-459XX

You might note they also have lower-slung Montado-type hammers which are the same casting as the SBH hammer but with a more decorative thumb-pad checkering pattern.

I don't the medallions on those SASS guns. There is too much of a radius on the face. They stick out like a bug eyed frog.
