last night i pulled out my trigger & fcu for cleaning and to polish a few parts. everything went great except when i got it out of the frame, #43 trigger bar lift spring popped out. i looked at the how to thread but was not sure if i got it back in there correctly. i know the bottom is in the retaining hole right & the double loop is in its cutout but where does the top of the #43 spring go? is it supposed to snap in somewhere or does it just fit loose rubbing the bottom of #40 trigger bar?

heres a pic trying to explain what i mean. i circled the spring and put an arrow toward the part that im not sure where it goes.

thanks

good luck and hope this helps

ya thats where i got the pic from but i cant tell where exactly the spring is going from the pic. the gun dry fires & resets fine with snap caps now but i want to be sure before i take it back to the range this weekend

I am sorry I can't really help cuz I can't put it into words, but i want you to know that I was in EXACTLY the same boat about 1 month ago. After a few hours I figured it out, and now I can assemble the whole thing in no time. Just take your time, be careful and THINK about what you are doing and DON't get pissed off and start bending and twisting stuff that shouldn't be bent and twisted.

To make that test I take a small piece from the sticky part of a Postit and stick it to the back of the snap cap, then dry fire. If the paper has a hole in it...

Had mine in and out numerous times while fitting a ghost rocket, and sometimes it would sit on there one way, other times it wouldn't..... just a loose fit as far as i can tell.

The lift spring's tail end fits under the Reset Bar, where it folds over, it fits in that radius. When it resets, it lifts that butt end up to let it do it's job.

My apologies for the lack of participation as of late, burnt out on forums a bit. Just pop in and out every few days.

Sorry, old stock photos of mine, nothing new, but still helpful.
Should look like this:

When it's engaged, it looks like this:

Trigger Bar reset back down, spring isn't engaged.

thanks that 2nd photo shows that mine isnt quite right however i did put 40 rounds down the pipe tonight before i saw the pics and it was flawless. finally got my elevation settled in after 800 some odd rounds :P

in your pic 2, when its engaged, my spring doesnt hang out the end, but rather slides a bit toward the middle of the assembly so its underneath the part that goes farther back if im remembering correctly. i will check when i tear the guns down.

thanks for the help everybody. think im gonna get my stainless slide refinished in black soon since this will be for carry - what do you guys think? :) it was either that or get a black sr40c for carry but i am more comfortable and better with follow up shots on 9mm. i have it shooting very good and trust it so think i will go with the refinished to black 9c

One way to test the operation of your SR9 (or any 9mm or .38/.357 for that matter) is to put a plastic pen down the barrel so the point is resting on the firing pin hole. Pull the trigger and the pen should jump out of the barrel with some force. it's amazing how far it will go if the mechanism is working right.

Most throw-away plastic pens are the right diameter to be an easy slip fit in a 9 mm or .38 barrel.

Just installed a Galloway heavy striker spring in my SR40c, and tried this technique out. Wow that pen flies some distance, wish I would have tried it with the stock spring to compare. Thanks for the neat idea to test....

I dunno. Ball point pens have extremely hard "balls" in the tip, I wouldn't subject my firing pin to it. If you take a plain pencil and stick it in the barrel tip down, you will ruin the point on your pencil, but its probably easier on the firing pin. And the pencil will shoot out the barrel also.

Or you just take the pen and flip it around and use the flat end? Besides, for a pen to fit with the pointed end in the chamber, you'd need a pen that measured pretty close to the same ID as the barrel so the points would line up concentrically. Use the flat ends :)

Geez listen to us shooting pens and pencils out of our handguns like a bunch of 12 year olds ha ha. I wonder if women do that? Nah, they're too mature.
