I need help! In the last week, I have had 44 madness hit! I started wanting a 44 S&W... Model 29. Well, I found a deal on a 629 4".... and grabbed it. Then..... I got offered a real deal on a 629 6"! What could I do? I got IT too. But, my real love is blued guns and when offered a bargain on a S&W 24 3" 44 special... well, I do love 44 specials!! So.... Yeah, I got it too!

You think that's bad??? I had been looking for a 5 1/2" Redhawk for some time and just when I get all these dang Smiths to weed through, guess what I run into??? Yup.... a brand new (Older Redhawk 5.5", in the box)! You figured it out by now.... I got it!

Thank goodness thats over..... well, not exactly!

I figured I was done for.... the wife was loading her little gun for bear!! BUT, dangit all!! I ran into what I had started out looking for! Yeah!! A brand new in the presentation case.... S&W 29-2... bright blue, never fondled... no marks upon its shiney blue finish!! All for a fair price.

Good lord! YES!!! I bought it!!!

So, I have several to weed through and then..... Ouch..... I'll be parting with at least 3 of these!

I feel like i need to go to some kind of crazy gun buyers meeting or something!

HELP!

It must be a bug going around. I added a Blackhawk .45C a few weeks ago and had a sweet deal come my way on a GP100 w/6" barrel a couple of days later. So they now hang out with my SP101. I don't see a cure in sight.

Must be.

I've been hankerin' for a 629 and see one in my near future. Threads like this don't help at all.

:D

Then hurry to the for sale section! ha ha

I'm thinnin the herd just a little!!

It IS a sickness... I am bidding on a 357 now! Dang it!

One thing about revolver sickness, Rugeritis, etc. It is never cured. Once you get it, you have to live with it!

Don't worry it gets better, pretty soon it'll progress and you'll quit wantin them sniffs, and as the disease matures they'll all have to be RUGERS!! :D

You need help right away!! It's called GAS - Gun Acquisition Syndrome. There's also a sub category called MRP - More Revolvers Please.
You're too far gone. Send them to me & I'll feel better!.
There's nothing that can be done for you. Once it sets in, there's only friends to help console you.

***They've told me (I've got it too) that the best way to try to beat it is to learn how to reload & shoot the living crap out of them.

I go for therapy at the range at least twice a week, but it seems to be getting worse. Damn display cases are right by the door to the range, and the Stainless ones just seem to glisten every time I walk past.

I've tried several different medications, herbalist, swammies, even electro-shock therapy and nothing works, there is no cure. My wife did suggest that I could have a frontal lobebotomy. The best advice I have is to just learn to live with it as well as you can and get on with your life.

Join the crowd. Just over a year ago I only had a couple of handguns now I have over 30 plus all my long guns. I don't see a end in sight. Yes it's a fun addiction but very expensive. It's a fun hobby that can be a good investment if you don't mind selling off a few when needed. In 2005 I decided I wanted a motorcycle so I sold a few and paid cash for a brand new bike. Now I have built back up plus have a nice bike also. My wifde &I really enjoy the bike. We have gone on it over 40,000 miles and loved it.

I confess...
I bought a .357 Montado just before New Year....
A .45 Birdshead is being shipped here as we speak...
Sent a deposit to a gun shop 60 miles away to hold two Redhawks for me, and am driving this week to pick them up....
Somebody stop me.
P.S. Just saw a Bisley Flattop in .44 sp on GunBroker - need a straight jacket now.
Stay tuned...

I am lucky to get one every year or two! Do you know how much that causes me to shake!

not sure but that causes misses and usually is a sign that you need to practice more!! Just shows ya, theres a cure for anything!!

Man, you hit the jackpot there Jon. Howsabout a picture of the Smith 24 and 29? I'd love either of those, but the prices some folks want around here for'em in less than ideal shape is just crazy.

Have a 629 Classic 5" and a 625 Mountain Gun (45 Colt) that are both tack drivers.

Well guys, I'll join right in here then. I have bought 4 new rugers in last 3 months or so and looking to buy a 357 blackhawk now to go with the others. Have 2 super single sixes, LCP, LCR, Sp101, GP100, and probably a Blackhawk 357/9mm also in near future. And no cost of living raise from Social Security this year again. I may have to put wife back to work. lol triker

The 29-2 might not make it here until Monday!! Ouch!

I'll tell you, that I feel much better about myself after reading this thread.

I've always liked and admired Ruger Revolvers (handguns in general) but really never got hooked until I joined this forum researching the Chrome BKH-34 that my dad left my brother and I. I obviously got hooked (bad) from that point forward. Thanks to all you folks, I know enough now at what I'm looking at to be dangerous.....very dangerous. (Who knew that there are guns shows every weekend in the winter?)

I've always been into collecting antique farm tractors, and it's gotten bad enough over the last couple months that I've even sold two tractors, to "reinvest" in old Rugers....friends and family are now worried. The trouble is that there are too many to try to collect them all I'm finding!!

Yep, I'm a revolvaholic myself. They don't even have to be anything special or in great shape. If it has a rotating cylinder and goes bang I like it. Last saturday I bought a Heritage Rough Rider .22 in a pawn shop for $100.00. It looks to be unfired and will make a great choice for when I'm out on the tractor or doing other farm work.
