Is it cost effective to have a barrel bored to another caliber? I'm thinking 30 Carbine to 41 Mag. Where would be a good place to have this work done?

You'll spend a small fortune getting a 7-1/2" .30 cal barrel bored and rifled.

Buy a Brownell's or ? barrel blank in .41 and have it fitted to your cylinder frame after you either rebore your cylinder or find and fit up a OM .41.

Unfortunately .41 cal. Ruger barrels were never made in longer lengths.

JMHO,

flatgate

I will be using a 41 OM and going from there. The Ruger rollmark would be nice to have was one reason for considering the 30 Carbine barrel. A barrel blank looks like a good idea too. Thanks :)

Al Siegrist or Jim Dubell will rebore it for ~$150 plus the cost of removing and reinstalling by your local 'smith. They both do fine work.

Be sure to read the fine print on "freshing" out a rifle bore to a larger size. There are no guarantees, i.e., the cutter "walks" and you're hosed. Instant tomato stake. No, you will not be reimbursed.

I have a OM 41 Mag for the base gun. I'm sorry I really didn't make that clear. I'm going to look for a OM 30 Carbine barrel to use and maybe add some other 'touches' along the way.

A 10" Maxi barrel would be another option.

FYI. The .30 Carbine Blackhawk barrel is very tapered and has a relatively small outside diameter at the muzzle. So, it may not be the best candidate for a rebore. A blued Bisley .357 barrel would be better. But this barrel, like a blued Bisley .41 barrel, has the warning label on the side.

The Bisley barrel makes the most sense. Thank you for the input there. I'm guessing the warning could be removed?

Absolutely! A lot of members here do it.

Now you have the challenge of finding a barrel. They are out there!
