There is a move afoot to make Halloween the last Saturday in October.

Those who back this play don't seem to know the rules: Halloween is the day before All Saint's Day, or All Hallow's Evening, as it once was. So what day will that be? November 1st? Or last Sunday in October? If so, what about St. Patrick's Day and St. Valentine's Day?

First, its a fluff piece story. Second, the proposition was made by a marketing firm. Increased sales is the prime objective.
Follow the money. Not worth the worry.

yea it will never be changed. i mean kids trick or treat on different days for safety etc... but the actually day will never change. TBH though I couldn't really care to much as I'm middle aged.

FWIW - 56,000 dummies have already signed a petition for the change, in the name of child safety on Halloween eve. :roll:

I think that they must be 56,000 parents that don't control their small/young children...………. :roll:

I am surprised that they haven't attempted to make Christmas the last Monday in December, or so such nonsense. The true meaning of Christmas has been lost to many for many years so why not other holidays?

Happy Dia De Los Muertos!

The Mexican Day of the Dead was a big deal across the border when I was a kid, though it wasn't as big on our side. Celebrated on Nov. 1, it spilled over to Nov 2. In recent years it's become a big celebration in the Mexican/Hispanic community on this side, too. In many places on the US side (SoCal in particular) it's now celebrated for all three days (Oct 31-Nov 2) Bob mentioned and those dates are fixed. Other parts of the US and Mexico have a variety of dates ranging from one to maybe five days. Add that the food's much better than all that candy. Well, if you stay away from the sugar skulls!
