Yes this one has the cylinders recessed. Is there a difference in the rear cylinder to frame gap?

Yes it's less of a gap and looks so much better.

NICE!!!!! I carried a "short" OM 41 or 45 Colt while guiding on wild pigs in grad school! Wife has an old 6.5" for carrying in griz (& moose) country!
