Gun show flatbolt

At the gun show today was a 4 digit flatbolt in .243. He said he had the box and it looked near new. I believe the serial number was 1181. I think it was an M77R... I looked at a lot of "stuff" today

It was worth going to the show just to be able to see it.

Love flatbolts. I have a 4-digit RS .308 that's my favorite all-time rifle. I once had a 3-digit R .308; traded it to a forum member here. Wonder if he still has it?

Made me check my list. I have M77R #1183 Flatbolt in .243.
Got this one as just a barreled action and the rest of metal parts in a cigar box from a gun store. Apparently, the story goes that the store got the original rifle in NIB but the shipper somehow snapped the stock off at the grip. It was all new just is pieces.
Shipper paid the gun store and it sat in the back room for many years. I bought it and found a nice piece of Walnut and had a custom stock made. Its pretty cool.

I did not purchase it. I believe his asking price was$1050.
