Gun Cleaning

I’m a cleaner, I clean after every range session. Tonight after shooting her 10/22 my wife asked if she could clean the gun when we got home. I told her if she was going to clean it that meant disassembly and reassembly, she was all in. I removed and reinstalled the bolt but she did everything else from disassembly to function check and she sure was proud of herself. She wants more magazines and she’s beginning to enjoy the smell of Hoppes Number 9...I may have created a monster.

Can I ship my 10/22 to you?

Actually, I haven't shot it in 20 years and it hasn't been cleaned in more than that. I bought when younger and never took it apart, just cleaned the barrel. I don't even know how. One of these days I'll have to get on YouTube and watch a video of it.
Hard to get motivated when there is nowhere to shoot it around here.

Congrats on converting her! My wife like the smell of Hoppes too, but only cleans here SR9.

I got a pleasant surprise two weeks ago... went to my FFL to pick up a used pistol I had bought from a guy and it was the dern cleanest used gun I've ever seen... the only thing I could see on it was the light film of grease on the rails...

for a number of years I would go out of town to a weeks training and roomed with a good friend who is a retired marine DI (gunny) and when we would get through at the end of the day and ready to go out to eat he required we go back to our room and clean our weapons first.

Long ago,, (Miss Penny & I have been together for 27 years,) I was in my gun room, cleaning a gun. Miss Penny came in & asked; "What's that smell?" I allowed how it was Hoppe's #9. She commented; "Why don't you clean them in the living room, that smells good!"
Should have used it as cologne.
Fast forward to now.
Miss Penny will clean her guns,, as well as mine. She does ask me to disassemble them & re-assemble them,, as her Lupus makes her hand coordination a bit weak. Plus,, she isn't as mechanically inclined. But if I tear one apart,, she'll clean it for me!
Gotta love it!

My wife loves the smell of Hoppe’s No. 9, she grew up smelling it and when she met me when she was 15, and she told me how much she loved that smell, I knew i had found my future wife, we have been together for 40 years now (married for 38) and she still comments every time i am cleaning my guns. She doesnt ask me to assist as she knows i enjoy cleaning them and am “particular” about the process :lol:


I have often told her that i hope her voice is the last voice I hear and Hoppe’s is the last thing i smell before going over to the other side to my eternal home....
