{gripe} - Left hand holsters

(rhetorical question) WHY can't the ding-dang search functions on the
internet understand the difference between Right hand and LEFT hand?

I continue to try variations in how I specify what I want (using the double
quotes around left and even including the model number) to no avail. Yes,
they do include some left hand models, but the majority of the "results"
(around 75%) are right hand versions. ARG!!!

The other side is when the written description says Left, but the picture is
of a right hand version. I've tried several times with those and gotten . . .
you guessed it . . . RIGHT hand holsters. DOUBLE ARG!!!

No problem for me. I ordered four left handed rigs from Bob Mernickle. He was happy to make them for me and I was very happy when I received them.

Just googled it as lefthanded holsters and got plenty of hits. Or just go to Simply Rugged and order what you need.

Nothing to do with web searches. Just saying that if you're willing to pay to have something made...you get what you want.

Just as I always said about people complaining about the cheap cookie cutter grips. If you're willing to send in your grip frame and have a set of grips made, you also get what you want. Understand????

Hi,

I haven't had as much trouble being left handed for almost 69 years as you seem to be having with a single search, Pat!

I put in "left handed holsters" and got pages worth (Firefox-Duck Duck Go combo.) Went to a single site, Tactical Store I think it's called, and they proudly proclaimed 4393 or so entries in the left handed section. Yeah, they show a lot of right handed rigs, but that has nothing to do with the search engine. I'd offer that the website programmer probably felt any left handed person worthy of the name is smart enough to visualize what a left hand version might look like to avoid having to set up another 4000 plus pictures.

It's really not that hard being left handed. Easier than being green if Kermit's to be believed. ;)

To those of you that have such great income that you can afford custom holsters
I can't. I'm living on 40% of the income I had in 1991. But then again, I retired
in 1996, so you do what you can.

I'm still seriously annoyed when a given search engine does . . . not . . . recognize
the search arguments you put in (that's computer terminology for those not
up to speed).

Say it isn't so. Why most of today's youngsters would have an anxiety attack if they actually talked to someone. And, writing a letter requires knowing cursive. The strain of either would require two blankets and two puppies.

This is a cheap and dirty, trick, but it works. Every time. Without batteries, special software, endless updates, etc.:

Get a hand mirror, face away from your monitor, and look at the picture in the mirror. Amazing how that works, huh? ;) I think I learned it from the guy who shot that famous picture of Billy the Kid.

Yes, you are missing the frustration of trying to find left-hand items. A left-hand version of every holster is NOT available, just as left-hand models of bolt-action rifles in every caliber available in right-hand versions are NOT available. Try to find left-hand shoulder holsters. Yes, you can pay more and get something custom-made. But those of us who have limited budgets and would like to buy a less-expensive "good enough" product are usually SOL.

I'm a lefty myself but I can see their point. They just don't want to stock excess inventory like left handed holsters that may spend a long time sitting on a shelf. They know their right handed holsters are going to sell. That's the perils of being a lefty.
