My father in law is many things: Among those many things are that he is a wonderful man, a Vietnam Vet (two tours), a Purple Heart recipient, the father to the woman who puts up with me every day, and a proud American who flies Old Glory in front of his house every day.

He is an awesome man and I appreciate him very much. And today, he gave me the following revolver:

As best my FIL can recall, he bought this at a pawn shop, but he doesn't remember for sure. According to Ruger's site, the serial number places it being built around 1989. It is the "RANGER" tag that has me wondering about this gun. Was this some sort of special edition, or did it possibly belong to some military or law enforcement group, or is this just some metal tag that someone glued to the gun?

Does anybody on here recognize it? Thanks.

Looks to me like it was an Army Ranger Tab that has been polished off and put on the grip.

Thanks, guys, I believe you are right. I talked with Ruger support today and they said that this revolver was not part of any special production run. I can't wait to take it out and burn some powder.
