Have owned lots of double-action revolvers with long barrels.
They are not suitable for daily carry, but there is no problem with them for specific applications like hunting or as a self-defense gun to be kept in the house or car.
Don't really need a snubby stored by the bed or front door, though they're neat for carry.
And there is an improvement in both terminal ballistics and controllability with the longer, heavier gun.
My only objection to a long barreled GP-100 is the caliber -- it doesn't start with a 4.
Of course, the double-action revolver is not what I'd choose for self-defense if given an option like the 1911 or a shotgun.
