Where are all the GP-100s in 327 Federal. I just received my Marlin conversion in 327 and would like a GP-100 at a reasonable price.(maybe).

The GP-327 is a really nice platform that seldom changes hands and scarce enough that it would be unusual to see one reasonably priced. The really long cylinder makes it perfect for long/heavy cast bullets.
A single seven would be much easier to find.

Cowboy, Tell me about the .327 conversion on your Marlin. I have one and have been thinking about having it converted to 327. But now Henry is coming out with a 327 I may hold off.

The good news is Ruger did them right. Mine is a really nice revolver when compared to anything you see in the gun shops these days. The bad news is they're hardly ever seen for sale. The only one I've seen in a long while sold on gunbroker last week for about $900. That was a good deal.

You can get a S&W 16-4 and have it reamed more quickly and easily for about the same money. I've thought about selling my GP100 and getting the 16-4, because most of my revolvers are S&W. But... did I mention they did a really nice job on the GP100 I have?

FYI everyone, a single action .327 and a Henry lever action .327 might be the easy way to go for range guns.

32 Shooter: My 327 is a Marlin done by Ranger Point Precision in Cypess, TX. It cost me 1744 ( I used a CC to pay) but the work is first class and my gunsmith was most impressed. In my case they took a Marlin 32-20 and rechambered it. Also had to modify the carrier. Since you have donor rifle it is about 750 I think. Really nice people to deal with. Call and talk to them. I asked if they were doing many 327s and the answer was, "We have more orders than we have rifles to convert." Henry had not come out with their 327 until after I had ordered mine. I do not care for the looks of the Henry or the metal that they use in some of their parts. I am not a Henry fan so there is not 1st hand knowledge of their 327 on my part. Am I a "gun snob?"

The GP100 and the 8-shot BlackHawk both came out at the worst possible time due to the ammunition shortages at the time. People didn't want to buy the guns when they couldn't get the ammo to shoot in them. They got discontinued quickly when sales were slow. The 327 has not died and the discontinued guns are now, shall we say "pricey".

I was looking at sending my Marlin 32-20 to TX when Henry announced the 327 Big Boys. I will pass on the Marlin now and take my chances on the Henry.

As far as handguns in 327, the GP is a nice package with 7 rounds. My two are not going anywhere. If you want a double action, the 4" SP101 might be your best bet unless you want to spend near four figures. The S&W model 16-4 is another nice gun ( I have a 4" bbl version) but they run well over $1000 on GunBroker.

Good luck in your search. You might find one sitting somewhere for a decent price. I never have since they were discontinued but you might have more luck than me.

Thanks,

32Magfan

Cowboy, Thanks for the info. I am also not a big fan of the Henrys. I think it would be cheaper to convert the 32mag vs the 32-20. I may just get a Henry and leave the Marlin as it is.

The Henry rifles I have, and all that I have seen. Have been nice rifles. I like my Marlins more but really can't rationalize why. Buy they Henry, and leave the Marlin alone.

I shoot the Skeeter Skelton 32 mag loads in my GP100 327. 95 grain Semi wad cutter at 1250 is good small game medicine. If I want more power I shoot the federal 100 sp factory load!! Smoking load! I just wished Ruger had made the 327 GP in their 6" light contour barrel like the one available for the 357 model.
