Looking for some 296 powder so I called a few shops most were sold out
but a one had some. Pond View Sports in Dexter Maine I do not mind naming them they deserve it.
The guy ask me how much I wanted I said I'll take a couple one pounders. He said come on down.
So before he hung up I asked the price he said 100 each. I said No Thank you. I HATE GOUGING

The best reloading deals recently involve trading a like amount of what you have for what you need. A pound of powder for a pound of powder, or powder for primers etc.etc.. some stores still sell reasonably when they have it but you have to beat the resellers who jack up the prices and sell on the local internet forums..

whats happening to us now is a good field test of what survivalists have been preaching for some time. we get to see just how low fellow humans will go for something. now kick it into full speed years without something, and if it gets bad enough...people will and might revert to violence to acquire.

If i have to pay a dealer a gouged price after i have payed i will tell them you just lost a customer for ever but generally i stay stocked up with what ever i need for at least 10 years i just sold 2k small rifle primers to a friend for $80 i would normally have just told him to replace them but i have a feeling its going to be awhile before they are available this time dealers around here if they have them are getting $120 a thousand the dirty dogs

Every time... People knee jerk to wave the "gouging" banner yet I'm thinking they'd certainly not sell their own wares at low prices should that ever occur. Oh wait, that's when the seller changes their reasoning and finds whatever they can to substantiate their pricing. It's supply and demand in a free economy. Now if you really believe it's gouging, which is illegal, call the proper authorities.

Price gouging for life saving essentials, food, medical supplies, maybe even heating oil or gas is one thing. But is it illegal to jack the price on a can of powder? Different categories I think.

OTOH, would there be gougers or scalpers if the majority of folks were prepared for the obvious?

Yes, anybody over the age of 25 & an IQ above that should be aware of what would happen with our sport or idea of freedom if "the opposing side" were to come into power.

I’ve bought a fair amount of two types of powder recently, in a scenario quite like this. Three quarters of it went to a buddy, but I’m adding to my very basic powder selection. A couple of pounds will keep me fooling around with load development for some time...

This guy is a budding FFL dealer, selling online for now. I paid a premium but they were cans of THE powders I wanted. I didn’t pay nearly as much as some folks are asking for their wares.

I don’t know where he’s getting his powder, but it seems like he buys a case and sells it, then buys another case, etc.

As he put it, “I don’t like gougers, but I didn’t pay wholesale, either!”

Wish you were closer. I have a full pound of 296 that I bought a month or so ago to load rounds for a cousin who lost interest.

I despise gouging but I also don't put myself in a position to "need" very much to accomplish the things I want to do. I'm also prone to helping folks out when I can at my cost.

I am looking forward to the glut in reloading components that will happen when ammo prices drop and a lot of new reloaders realize it's not enjoyable for them. I picked up a lot of primers and powder on local boards and at gun shows in 2014 and 2017 when prices dropped. Have enough to survive this run and possibly the next one at current rates of expenditure.

F U very much! Thing is 296 is not a go to for me. Reorganizing my reloading supplies I found some
Cast Performance bullets I forgot I had 325 gr hard hitters member on a the forum told me 296 is what
to use for them heavy slugs, so the search was on, Usually a lb. of powder would be 20 bucks + or -.
Clear case of gouging! No problem here in this small community I have already began exposing that sob
it really pissing me off. Hopefully I can put a hurt on him! I know it's vindictive but i'm just speaking the TRUTH. ps

H110, and 296 are the same. Luckily, I maintain adequate numbers of components for my needs. Then I came across a friend whose Step father was a reloaded and died. I bought all the powder, a few lbs of lead balls, at a price higher than what he paid for, but certainly less than today’s. Ie I treated the widow fairly. I sold off several lbs of black powder, and .22 magnum rounds, and recovered some of my money, leaving me with enough powder for the rest of my ife.
