Gotta Love A Hypocrite...

Sounds like a two faced lying stupid liberal idiot to me.
Gambling is gambling no matter whose money or HOW its done.
So , it's not murder IF you close your eyes before pulling the trigger.

I can't say as I agree. I see a huge distinction between wagering money or other item of value on a bet or chance and what she is doing. According to the article she's entering sweepstakes type games, not gambling. No different than a submission to publishers clearing house.

I remember, many years ago, when the state lottery was going to start up here the pastor at our church did a long fire and brimstone sermon against it. It was an interesting sermon yet, at the end, he blew the whole message when he said, "...but if you do win, you will donate some of it to the church, won't you?"

I see no distinction. She is an HYPOCRITE. Gambling is gambling. I don't care how you do it! In other words if she isn't gambling, Pres Clinton didn't have sex with that woman!

Same thing here. I said to the pastor, "I think you're right. Gambling is a sin. I think a better way to raise revenue would be to tax the churches." He never preached another sermon on THAT topic again.

My feelings exactly.. Either way, she is gambling on winning something.. It doesn't matter if she is actually betting money or not.. It's semantics.. It's still gambling on the fact that you will win something out of the deal..

Exactly.. It's all fire and brimstone and pure evil.. Until they can get their chunk of it.. Then of course, it's all good.. I've seen it more times than I can count..

I agree with you Snake..

I said the same thing once to a Church Pastor after several comments he made on similar issues.. All while his Church was running a Bingo racket out of the basement of the Church.. Big money was flowing through that game.. We ain't talking nickels and dimes here.. But it was different because the Church was running the game..

Then you have Churches wanting to push for certain candidates for President.. Sure, right after you give up the tax free status.. Then you can campaign for any candidate you wish.. Churches make a ton of cash off people.. They can afford the tax.. After all, if Uncle Sam can tax a "GoFundMe" fund raiser, then I believe a Church is just another fund raiser that should pay their fair share as well.. Render unto Caesar..

Put her in the same cesspool with these anti-gun "celebrities" who tell us we must give our guns while surrounding themselves with heavily armed security guards.

I love that solution that you had!

Hi,

If I remember the stories correctly, God condemned drunkenness yet His Son's first public miracle was that of turning water into wine at a wedding. In the same sense, excessive love of money is condemned, yet I doubt buying a lottery ticket by and of itself will plunge me more than two or three levels down into the abyss. It seems there's a message in there about moderation. As such, I don't see that one must be a teetotaler to condemn problem drinking, nor do I see buying an occasional lottery ticket (or even playing a few games of bingo with Granny down at the church hall on a Thursday night!) as precluding one from being allowed to decry problem gambling.

Fortunately for me, judging people on such behaviors is way above my pay grade!

I think SHE is quite probably what's often referred to as a degenerate gambler who thinks anyone who gambles is like her with their gambling. Thus no one else should gamble.

She reminds of anti-gun people, who think if THEY were simply angry at someone THEY wouldn't be able to control themselves were they armed and see us gun people as themselves and would mirror their behavior if angered, thus no one should be able to carry for self defense, because THEY couldn't discipline themselves if they carried.

Everything you or I do in life is a gamble! If you drive to your church's prayer meeting on Thursday night you are gambling some drunk doesn't T-bone you. Sure, the odds are different on whatever choices we make in our everyday life. I used to be a heavy casino gambler. Not as much now as I cant afford it at this stage of life in retirement.
I still miss it. You gamble big time on every job you take or mate you choose.

Gotta remember that in those days, Water was NOT all that safe to drink and remember too that the disciple LUKE who was a physician said to "take a little wine for thine Stomach's sake; Also they drank wine at the last supper. The KEY is that Jesus and the Bible tells you to NOT do things to excess.
The reason drinking alcohol in moderation is frowned on NOW is due to morons saying" Well, you drink alcohol, so it MUST be okay for ME to drink to excess and be a drunken slob."

One of our favorite movies is Moonrunners, check it out, the real basis of the TV series the Dukes of Hazzard, complete with an Uncle Jessie, Roscoe Coltrane and Waylon Jennings as the narrator and one of the best interactions in the movie was between Uncle Jessie and the local Preacher on alcohol and drinking. Mostly it was as you note, anything in moderation is not a bad thing.
