Got my shooting eyes back

Read an article called “Seeing Sights” by Charles E. Petty in the February 2011 issue of Handloader Magazine. In it, he mentioned the Clear2target sighting disc . It’s like the Merit Optical Attachment but is a vinyl clingy that you stick to the inside surface of you shooting glasses.
It works like a camera lens aperture to give you more depth of field and is supposed to make your sights appear less fuzzy.
Well since it was less than six bucks for a pack of eight compared to $65.00 for the Merit Optical Attachment, I ordered them.
When they came in the mail, I put one on my shooting glasses and tried looking at my sights. Left eye, still fuzzy. Right eye, it was like I was 25 again. Really cool. Could not wait for a day to go to the range.
Took my Lipsey’s 4 5/8” S.S. Single-Six and my .45 Super Blackhawk Hunter to see how it would shoot.
The Single-Six was grouping around 1” for 5shots at 50’ off of the bench. Best I could do before was 1.5”. Best group of the day was 5/8” for 4 shots and one called flyer (my bad) that opened it up to 1.75”.
First time shooting my Hunter, without any tuning yet gave me 1.5” 5-shot groups at 50” off of the bench with a 255gr. LRNFP and 8.0 gr. Of Unique. Best group of the day was 1 3/8”.
Tell you what, it was the best six bucks I ever spent. Makes shooting fun again. Can’t wait to shoot a Bullseye match to see how I do.

I just had a Lens perscription change and it improved my groups quite a bit, but I still don't have the Sight Picture that I want. These "Clear2Target" looks to be the ticket I'm looking for! ...................................

Last two times to the eye doctor, Had him adjust my prescription for my front sight at arms length. It helped, but not as much as that pinhole clingy.

Thanks Ron, I may try those. My eyes are not too good and bifocals don't help.

Lyman makes one that is a suction cup. I have also used sticky dots that I punched a hole through. Helps a lot for my eyes.

My 'problem' with these add-on or remedial devices is simple; I ain't got time in real life to get all dressed up for a gunfight.
I gotta go with what I brought.

See, you never get the time to prepare (except before you leave your sanctuary). And I just can't see (okay, that one is an Oscar-deserver :mrgreen: ) walkin' around with things glued on my glasses.

On the other hand, getting all dressed up just to shoot is kinda like donning scuba gear to just go swimmin', ay?

I agree with you that it would be inappropriate for daily wear, but for use on the range targetshooting off the bench I think it’s great that I can see the sight like when I was younger. For competition or hunting I also think it would be a boon.

Maybe these stick ons and an aperture rear sight will have me busting soda cans at 100 yds with a sixgun again!

I saw that article, too. I may just have to try this product. I have a hard time seeing the front sight and holding it on the target. I'm either focused on the front sight to the near exclusion of the target, or the front sight is so blurry I can't make it out well enough for any kind of real target shooting.
