That big gopher snake that I saw laying in my water dish outside my window was back and with him being a gopher snake, he went down an old gopher hole about four feet from the water dish.

I stood there watching and about 20 seconds later, he came out head first. I just wonder how big a hole they must have to be able to get turned around in it.

What if they couldn't get turned around, can they back out of the hole? I'm pretty sure they must be able to back out. I know that a snake can be perfectly straight and still move ahead by moving it's ribs.

I'm no expert, but every snake I have encountered out here in the woods never backed out. It was always me backing out !!!!!

I just got home a few minutes ago from getting a black snake out from under a heater. Yep, snakes can "go in reverse."
