Last night our little miniature Dachshund passed away/ W had her for over 17 years and she was my wife's shadow. She was the black and grey molted color which is called blue.

We have lost several pets over the years as wife likes rescues.
It never gets easier.

As I read this,, I have a cat that's demanding attention. Dogs & cats both entwine themselves into our lives,, and are quite loyal & loving. So it hurts a LOT to lose one.
Y'all have condolences,, as I too know the heartache.

I lost my "shadow" a couple years ago. It hurts, a lot, I know. I have the memories though. My sincere condolences to you both.

RIP. I grew up with Dachshunds, we always had one. They attach themselves to you. I remember one summer I was working in a packing plant in the sheep kill. The first day when I came home Ginger came out to greet me until she got a whiff of what I had done all day, she turned tail until I took a shower. Sorry for your loss.

It is so very hard when they leave us. Everyone is right when they say that it doesn’t get easier. I am glad to hear that you had many good years with your good canine friend.

Sorry to hear of your loss, I think any of us that has owned a pet has experienced their loss at one time or another. It’s never easy and I still remember all of mine so as long as they’re in your memory, they’re still there with you at least in spirit.

Sorry to hear this. I've been through this several times and it is always so hard. The unconditional love that a dog has for its humans is something so special, and something that non-dog people cannot understand. The passing of time will help.

I had a Dach's; MISTER DOGGY; He was ALWAYS my dog and I was ALWAYS his person;
He would visit visitors and then come sit by ME; Loved to chase cats, but when they stopped he didn't know what to due. The last year of his life (at 21 years) he slept s lot and had to be carried outside to go potty. Then one night he had a seizure and after he calmed down, I said I'd take him to the Vet in the morning. Sadly NO NEED, come morning he had departed for DOGGY HEAVEN; I look forward to meeting him at the Rainbow Bridge some day !!

I am glad that you had to chance to enjoy such pure love from a dog. Nothing like it, and it’s missed twice as much when it’s gone. From all of us who have loved and lost a special friend like yours, we each share your loss today.
