Harrison Ford is a big supporter of aviation. He has been for as long as I can remember. He has had some "bad luck" in the last few years though.
This time he landed on the taxi-way instead of the runway....over top of a 737 that was on the taxi-way...

I like to use ALL of the runway and usually set up my approach to start my flare just before the numbers. Run-way is no good when it is behind you!

We can all make a mistake but I think Harrison Ford has had several "mishaps"...Not sure he's up on his game and maybe it's time to stay out of the busy airspace around LAX...he has his planes at Santa Monica and was flying into Wayne Orange County airport..both extremely busy airports and the airspace crosses right over LAX..The airspace around there is a "professionals work place" and not very good as an "amateur's playground"..My oldest Son flew out of Torrance and I flew with him a lot...I was never comfortable...the "practice area" was over the ocean just off the coast and it was a zoo..with all the private traffic and the commuter airlines zooming by...All controlled airspace and I get really jumpy when I hear of the "near miss" episodes around that basin..

Years ago I flew my Bonanza into Hawthorn airport..it's parallel to LAX and just a bit east and south..Watching the jets pop out of the fog and smog as you flew in heading west into the afternoon sun was a real exercise in keeping your cool..

I guess Ford has all the money and ego in the world but he's sure becoming visible with his near misses.

Time for the FAA to give him a thorough exam.

And to think he asked the tower if the 737 was supposed to be beneath him and he still landed!

Pretty hard to make a mistake like that, bare concrete doesn't look like a runway with a rather obvious center line and numbers. Also pretty hard to miss a fairly large pile of aluminum on the end of the taxiway as well. He really had to be asleep to make that screw up. I suspect the FAA will suspend him and make him prove medical fitness. Taxiway landings aren't unheard of but usually occur on unimproved airstrips, not next to a big, wide, well marked runway. Especially with a Supercub clone like his Husky which has excellent forward and downward visibility on approach.

We kinda have to give the big guy a little slack here on this one..

I mean, he's used to flying the Millennium Falcon. There isn't much traffic out in space. And he is getting a bit long in the tooth for a smuggler after all.. On top of that, he knew he wouldn't hit that plane, after all, he's used to outrunning Imperial cruisers. Not 737's.. And not the bulk cruisers either mind you. But the big boys.. And let's face it. When your landing a ship like the Falcon on a landing pad, most of the time, they don't have any markings on the pad really. So it can be easy to get confused for an old spice pirate. And when you have a ship as large as the Falcon, you park pretty much wherever the hell you please. What are they gonna do? Tow you?

He shoulda taken Chewie with him. Chewie was always a great navigator.

I won't be surprised if the FAA does nothing but give him some type of warning. He is a movie star, and we all know that they don't get treated the same way as we mortals do.

Many years ago I read through years and years of Alaskan aviation accident reports on the FAA site. Alaskans are crazy people is all I can say!

I see we have some pilots here. I am/was one too. Every one of us has made mistakes. I might be the head of the list here. The difference is I am Bogus Bill, not a news worthy name like Harrison Ford. Had that been Joe Blow we wouldn't have heard of it. (Unless the airliner crashed with 250 people). He did bless me with a wave once when I drove past him and a probable body guard trying to keep up with him jogging.
He is a active pilot. I aint. I have no trouble "driving" my plane through the air. That also is no trouble to him or any pilot. It would take a Philadelphia aviation specialist lawyer to sit alongside us to point out the many rules we are breaking on what we might consider a easy safe flight. At least that is how I feel about it.
