Living in semi-dry Kansas, my alcohol purchases are usually limited to an occasional six-pack of 3.2 beer, the only thing a grocery store can sell. Anything else requires a trip to one of the small, expensive liquor stores. So when I visit family in Columbia, MO I stop in at one of the large supermarkets for a box of red wine and whatever catches my eye. This time, it was a liquor bottle with a corncob pipe taped to the neck. The bottle read "Missouri Moonshine--Peachie Cream", a 90-proof spirit flavored with "a great combination of sweet Missouri peaches from Bader Farms in Campbell, MO mixed with a rich cream." It's produced by Crown Valley Distilling Co. at St. Genevieve, MO. It came home with me, and has been flavoring my holiday egg nog. It's a really smooth spirit with real peach flavor, and might make a good margarita, but I'll probably use it up in nogg before the season is over.

And the "Missouri Meersham" pipe, from Washington, MO is tempting me to see if I can still buy Borkum Riff tobacco and light up. I smoked a corncob pipe in college, but quit over 30 years ago.

Borkum Riff is still available...Too sweet for me, and the liqueur sounds it too...

Rather have a nice briar filled with Gawith & Hoggarth Black Irish Twist, and a glass of Knob Creek...

I was almost expecting a threadabout McCormick bourbon/vodka/gin.
Nasty stuff but many distilleries use it in blends.

Guess my palate has had more time to mature. I've been in the McCormick factory store in Weston Missouri a couple of times, and I really liked everything they had to sell. I bought half the store.

Any liquor that is sold in tear-open envelopes, has gotta be good!

WAYNO.

I didn't see one McCormick label. There is a difference, trust me!
McCormick is the brand of choice for people with limited cash or power drinkers.
If they drank good booze, they couldn't afford to drink.
I knew a guy (no longer with us) who grew up in the hills of mid MO who would smoke only Camels, drank only Bud Select beer but when it came to bourbon it was McCormick. Why? It was cheap and he only drank it to get drunk.

Guess I'm easily confused. Every one of these packages says McCormick Distillery. This must be the counterfeit McCormick stuff.

Out West, we have Hood River Distillery. Considered the bottom of the tanker truck. But, they also bottle Pendleton Whiskey, which is considered very acceptable.

WAYNO.
